why not? the rich always had it their way - look at FFP.

What about it?
A multitude of clubs had sanctions against them upheld, several had them rescinded. What are we meant to look at exactly? I imagine the mere threat that they can be sanctioned by the governing body and they don't want to be?

It's a disgrace that we are joining Florentino's competition.

Someone check the RPM meter on Crujiff's grave.

it's 2021 mate. how much would cruijff have cost us in today's market? 200-300 mil?

there are ways to get around that. like sponsorship deals or exchanging players to balance the books at a certain point in time. or getting neymar and mbappe in the same window by agreeing to a loan with obligation to buy in the future.

yeah, rich clubs really had a hard time with FFP around.

The solution is salary caps, max foreign players at a club and 51-49 ownership like in Germany.

This super league is making a bad situation even worse. The next level after that is make it global.
Harlem globetrotter style.

If this goes trough I will stop watching football and stop supporting Barca.
Its been getting worse for years now but this would be the final nail in the coffin.
Nothing 'Mes que un club' about it.

This. And Florentino is the chairman... How can we cheer for this?

they could implement a promotion/relegation system from the lower leagues that will be in place, EL or EL Conference. there will be money like never before, for everyone.

porto and benfica should be in the super league.

It's not what should be but who has more money and can generate more revenue. I am sure Superleagu 2 will be created soon.

idk but i doubt it. PL is entertaining and it has the same teams every year

Well no.
In PL you have the battle for the 1st place, the battle for the CL relegation 2-4, the battle for EL 4-7, the battle who is to remain to the league at the last places.
This is the football we all know since we are kids.

What's the fun in a league of 20 teams across the Europe with no other interest other than the 1st place.
It is insanely boring

Argument still doesn't make sense.
Some clubs had sanctions at inconvenient times. Others had them rescinded through creative law application. Nice to know you lump everyone in the same basket.

There was a similar attempt in European basketball and it failed miserably. That attempt basically ruined basketball in Europe.

I'm not an expert on Basketball, especially European. Can you expand a bit on what happened there?

If there are hard on salary caps (and i'm not talking about like 30m caps, which only realistically affect 5 players on this continent) but like 5-10m max and also agent+transfer caps, then 50+1 is not desperately necessary anymore imo. The billionaires can gladly pump in a billion into their club to reduce debt, modernize stadiums and all that, that really wouldnt bother me as long as the money does not give direct competetive advantage on the market anymore.

They are just waiting to get the negative press out of the way.
The clubs know people will hate this. Thats why they do it now with the pandemic preventing protests and angry fans in the stadium.

They probably researched it well and know eventually they will get their way and will have enough global support to silence the protests. And eventually kids will grow up with it not knowing something else.
