European Super League

I think Bayern will eventually have no choice but to join for both sporting and economical reasons. If the ESL pulls through eventually the CL loses it's prestige, significance, monetary value etc. Same can be said for the rest of the other leagues around Europe, not to mention all the top players would push to play in the new ESL format.

Of course they would but they are playing a political game knowing likely never happen and will reap the benefits of any changes this 'breakaway' brings with none of the risks.

whoever came up with this idiotic idea should be shot. I wouldn't watch this incestual farce. the basic idea of any sport is that it's a fair competition for EVERYONE. UEFA will never let this slide, so the superleague is dead on arrival anyway. also I would never pay or support anything that has even remotely to do with Di$ney, arguably the most evil corporation on the planet next to facebook and google

Not even if it means you could stream games on the Disney+ package?

I dont really get the point. 25% of the club is owned by corpoerate shareholders. 75% is not. So you dont have a situation where a company can decide things against fans interest.. How 50+1 works.

And that's the point. A club owner is in the role of an absolutist monarch that does whatever he wants, i.e. form the super league.
A sponsor or minority shareholder can at best be a lobbyist in a democracy where the average joe can outvote him anyway.

The point is Bayern can't really preach the "holier-than-thou" line when they themselves have benefited from money received from their corporate shareholders and they are not 100% exempt from all the backroom deals etc. regarding money.

Of course, that said, they are a club owned by their members mostly with elements of democracy involved (interestingly though Hebert Hainer, the former Adidas CEO is the Bayern president right now ;)) and very different from those clubs owned by billionaires and sovereign funds etc.

Bayern not joining then.

Not necessarily, since KHR is leaving Bayern at the end of this season anyways and Kahn is taking over as Bayern CEO.

It is well known that there are factions/camps or people with different opinions within Bayern, as we saw in the case of Flick vs. "Brazzo" Salihamidzic.

Like with Barca and Real members vote for it.

Which they wont. Since the 75% of people owning Bayern shares are the same organized purists that demonstrate over paying 25 EUR for a match ticket.

My local club literally had a member vote in a 51 (fans) vs 49 (club president) decision over a multimillionaire takeover and the president only needed 1% extra to win. He lost. On top of that the same fans also boycotted the whole season and supported u23 matches instead just because he even suggested the idea of a takeover.

And in Bayerns case it isnt even 51 vs 49. Its 75 vs 25 as Luftstalag has previously pointed out. In what worlds are a whole third of fans voting against this?

Membership owners in German football clubs are in more fucking unity than even the companies that own the leftover shares.

If the new ESL becomes the staple of European football, then Bayern, PSG, Dortmund etc...will all join too.

Football will always follow the money.

I'm super glad Barca decided to be one of the founding members, meaning that if these clubs like Bayern, PSG Dortmund do join in the future, then Barca will always have an upper hand and more economic gain than these clubs.

At the end of the day, I only watch football for FC Barcelona and I only watch FC Barcelona to watch them win.

Visca Barca!

Dont agree lets see how pans out but dont think league happens anyway.

You opinion is Bayern have no option to join anyway so no decision to make from them.

Good for you.
I think this is the end of the line for me(if it indeed goes through like this), but i can always watch domestic football in my country, not that bad.

[Nizaar Kinsella] UEFA presdient Ceferin leaves the door open for clubs to return to their comps: "They are not banned from European football forever but the way they acted was wrong, even without a big IQ, people know it." Adds: 'the threat of the Super League, is a strange way of negotiating.'

 He knows it deep down that CL without Barca, RM, United, Pool, Milan clubs, and Juve is a tinpot competition.
