European Super League

I'm super glad Barca decided to be one of the founding members, meaning that if these clubs like Bayern, PSG Dortmund do join in the future, then Barca will always have an upper hand and more economic gain than these clubs.

At the end of the day, I only watch football for FC Barcelona and I only watch FC Barcelona to watch them win.

Visca Barca!

all the big clubs start clean with 0 trophies. madrid's 5 CL titles in the 18th century will be irrelevant. siiuuu

Good for you.
I think this is the end of the line for me, but i can always watch domestic football in my country, not that bad.

Must have been a very noble cause supporting the most successful club in European history all the way from Norway.

I'm in the same boat as you, except I don't claim moral high ground as a "football purist".

 He knows it deep down that CL without Barca, RM, United, Pool, Milan clubs, and Juve is a tinpot competition.

Just proves that all those statements about banning players and club is empty talk. By the end of week UEFA will promoting ESL themselves.

[Nizaar Kinsella] UEFA presdient Ceferin leaves the door open for clubs to return to their comps: "They are not banned from European football forever but the way they acted was wrong, even without a big IQ, people know it." Adds: 'the threat of the Super League, is a strange way of negotiating.'

This cat still acting like he has any power.

Without these clubs, the champions league and UEFA will crumble. He's at their mercy and he's just trying to ac like he has a position of power.

Bring the Superleague on. Why would Barca fill corrupt Uefa coffers. Let them play their game. Very fact Qatar FC president is one of the few who is still with them tells you a lot.

Which they wont. Since the 75% of people owning Bayern shares are the same organized purists that demonstrate over paying 25 EUR for a match ticket.

My local club literally had a member vote in a 51 (fans) vs 49 (club president) decision over a multimillionaire takeover and the president only needed 1% extra to win. He lost. On top of that the same fans also boycotted the whole season and supported u23 matches instead just because he even suggested the idea of a takeover.

And in Bayerns case it isnt even 51 vs 49. Its 75 vs 25 as Luftstalag has previously pointed out. In what worlds are a whole third of fans voting against this?

Membership owners in German football clubs are in more fucking unity than even the companies that own the leftover shares.

hehehe, I don't know how many Bayern members are plastic/fake members (I have seen people on the internet claiming they became Bayern members only to be able to buy Bayern tickets more easily and resell them for profit) and don't actually care, but since Bayern accepts pretty much anybody to become a member of theirs as long as you apply online and pay them the fee, down the road there might be a small possibility of Bayern members voting for something unimaginable today.

Just trying to pull your legs man ...

Not a Madridista anymore?

I can understand those people who feel disgusted, I do too. I can also understand those folks who said they will stop watching and supporting their clubs. However I don't understand how one can just stop being a fan of a club (not saying this is your case Morten) all of sudden as if there was a switch that can be turned on and off.

Let's not forget that UEFA refuse to even acknowledge Catalunya or the Catalan people.

UEFA talks about how the ESL will neglect the foundations and history of football, yet they wont even acknowledge the history and people who built Barca.

Let FIFA/UEFA burn. Disgusting organization.

PSG will almost certainly join ESL after beIN Sports' rights to broadcast UCL expires in 2024

The point is Bayern can't really preach the "holier-than-thou" line when they themselves have benefited from money received from their corporate shareholders and they are not 100% exempt from all the backroom deals etc. regarding money.

Of course, that said, they are a club owned by their members mostly with elements of democracy involved (interestingly though Hebert Hainer, the former Adidas CEO is the Bayern president right now ;)) and very different from those clubs owned by billionaires and sovereign funds etc.

But noone is condemning getting money from minority shareholders. This isnt about "money bad", as much as it is about selling your entire base of operation to a single person/company who then rules unopposed and undemocratic over it for lifetime, with no democratic process in palce that could reverse that decision. It really is a monarchy when you think about it.
And especially if your owner is basically a billionaire capitalist entirely detached from fan and football culture, then your club will essentially end up being a business object and your King does whatever he wants. Is Bayern the perfect example of morality? No, and I've been critizing this constantly myself even in discussions with you. There's some minor ties to Qatar, Adidas and Audi arent much better and Rummenigge/Hoeness occasionally act like spoiled dickheads.

And still: I'd rate them at a far lesser level of "evil" than anyone in the current super league, or the likes of PSG and whatnot and they have repeatedly pushed for progressive reforms that I actually support (salary/transfer/agent caps) when everyone opposed them, while opposing the Superleague when everyone joined it. So yeah, they arent saints and theres tons of improvements that can be made, but at the same time I'd feel more comfortable with such clubs leading progress than Florentino Perez, Joel Glazier and some Emir.
