There was a video asking Americans on the street before the Barca Juventus final 2015 who the teams and players were.

Someone confused Messi with Lionel Richie.

It was pathetic to watch at times.

:lol::lol:

USA has bad time for wathing the big matches, i mean they have to watch UCL matches on day time.

 How is a Bulgarian supporting Argentina different from an American/Chinese supporting Argentina?

Sounds to me like you have other agendas at play here.

Who says "supporting". Watching England vs Argentina is above any players.
And honestly if you go to a full sports bar in Bulgaria during England vs Argentina world cup, they wouldn't know more than 5-6 players.
But its fkin Mundial and England vs Argentina my friend.

Surely you will find people who watch england vs argentinia because its a top match but you have a lot more people who watch this because of the top players. People would also dont watch argentinia vs bolivia if Messi wouldnt play there.

man these folks just acting like they don't know. It's obviously staged.

They shoulda taken the interview to the street though. Pretty sure they'd have gotten even funnier responses

This counts only for the argentinia people. People from other countries watch argentinia because of Messi.
I didn't say the world cup wouldn't take a hit. Of course it does.

There's no win/win here for FIFA. If they allow them in then they alienate UEFA and they know further down the line they will be in the same position with these clubs wanting to have more control over the World Cup and it's revenue.

It's probably better for them to be in control of a smaller pie than lose control of the large pie.

It's explicitly forbidden in premier league rules to enter a competition without their approval. They can leave and enter it but they can't stay and enter it without approval.

Are you sure, any source on this? I believe it's possible to insert something like this, as a sort of non-compete clause.

Maybe you are right. Probably you see the bigger picture involving countries that do not traditionally watch football like the US.
I just have the impression of my small Balkan country and generally in Europe. Everyone will watch Mundial because it is Mundial regardless if Mbape or Salah are playing.
Even smaller games like Turkey vs Poland. People are watching them because it is the Mundial the biggest tournament the exists.
