Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish is weighing up a move for Newcastle captain Fabricio Coloccini in a January transfer window move to boost his defence.
The Reds boss is keen for the club to push for Champions League football this season, but defensive frailties are hampering progress.
Dalglish sees Coloccini as the ideal fit in a back four currently being marshalled by 33-year-old stalwart Jamie Carragher.

The club's director of football, Damien Comolli, has been to scout the 29-year-old Argentine and the club could consider a move in the approaching transfer window, according to the Mirror.
Dalglish has already made two high-profile swoops on the St James' Park club with striker Andy Carroll and Jose Enrique arriving in January and August respectively.
And again with Coloccini, Liverpool chiefs are hoping the lure of playing at Anfield will be enough to convince the player that is where his future lies.
Liverpool can F--K OFF!
