Also Madrid/Barcelona maintain their autonomy on the runnings of the clubs (CVC/LaLiga require clubs to invest certain percents in marketing, social media activation etc. Not a bad thing for small clubs but not a need for clubs bigger than LaLiga).

The CVC money the rest of the clubs receive is a loan anyways (though zero percent) and it is with performance stipulations and having to do as CVC/LaLiga say basically.

True, but I'd argue those conditions set by La Liga for the CVC money are not bad and quite reasonable, for example "70% of the resources obtained by each club must be dedicated to investments related to infrastructure, international development, brand and product development, communication strategy, innovation and technology plan and content development plan plan on platforms. digital and social networks.", I think that's exactly what clubs should do to grow.

I still kind of wish we had received the money to do just that. Of course I wouldn't be too happy to cede future TV money shares.

But what does this have to do with ESL anyway? ESL is an alternative to CL, not La Liga.

ESL could take sponsors/tv rights growth away from LaLiga indirectly.

Tebas is executive director at Uefa now.

Long term a successful ESL could see breakaway from domestic leagues aswell as CL.

So there is the interest of the rumoured clause from both sides

uhm dunno the details but seems like a sucker deal. Small clubs having to give up 10% of viewing rights for the next 50 y whilst having to comply to yet more rules and stipulations from a new warlord lol

Better scenario would've been for Tebas to chilax the rules so that Liga clubs could do more with less money and less rules

Hopefully pumping more money into other La Liga clubs will narrow the gap between us/Real Madrid and the rest and make the league more even-footed. Harder for us to raid them for players and talents but also harder for foreign clubs to do that. ;)

It is good.

It seems that

1- the 2.7 b will be returned in 40 years (+ very small % of interests)
2- they will still take about 11% of the league revenue and 10% of TV revenue for 50 years

will try to confirm this in a little bit with more details.

Its outrageous deal if true.

Tebas: Barcelona and Madrid opposed the agreement because they do not want the local league to develop and they are still thinking of the Super League.. they want all the income for them

Perhaps that is why other teams agreed. They are fully aware that they are not attractive enough to find a better deal and trying to take advantage of Barca and Madrid while they are still bringing $$$$$ into the league.

It means the other clubs will receive a huge cash investment but will be required to give up 10% of their viewing rights for the next 50 years, while Barca and Madrid will receive nothing and not give up any of their rights.

This is actually the best case scenario for Barca/Madrid. La Liga gets stronger while Barca and Madrid can continue to rebuild without giving up their viewing rights.

This is very good for us. Not in a sense of having tougher competition, but a higher quality league.

Good.. Bad for the opponents long-term

Hahahaha. Man I love this.

Let's see how much these teams hate this deal in 50 years if LaLiga grows. It will cost them tons of money.

So CVC will be injecting 2.7b euros for this deal (1b of which come from money borrowed from Goldman Sachs), it is estimated they will make 9b throughout the 50-year cycle. 6.3b of profit, that's what CVC is going after.

Still many unknowns:

(1) Real Madrid's lawsuit against La Liga and the CVC deal is ongoing and has not been withdrawn, not sure what they will do if they can opt out
(2) RFEF was threatening lawsuits as well
(3) How much money will each participating club receive, if it is based on TV revenue distribution since 2015. There are clubs in Segunda that have just got there recently, so no 6-year history to draw from. If both us and Real Madrid stay out, all of the remaining clubs should get more money for sure. Atletico will turn out to be the biggest winner, probably getting money close to 300m.

How can they justify it if it costs 6.3b in 50 years?

LaLiga is in dire need of financing right now? They assume the money (2.7b) invested now will gather more income than the lost 6.3b?

Whatever those 38 teams gain or lose in this deal is from Barca and Madrid's share. They are worthless without us, a bunch of parasites.

I stand corrected, it has been reported that the value of the deal is now down to 2.1b from the initial 2.7b figure, because of the refusal of participation from us, Real Madrid, Athletic Bilbao and an unknown Segunda club.
