For me there was no issue. But many in here believed that Barca brand don't need superstars to get money. Mostly because they hate Messi probably and tought we'll do the same without him anyway.

The argument was you need Messi and Ronaldo level players to get big deals.

Barca getting this much in this situation would not point to that and never going to have another Messi anyway. The value Messi brought lives on in current deal.

Barca in terrible situation still generate a lot from these deals and that is due to brand. There is room for that to improve further through success and top players that are not Messi. That is the point.

The difference of prime MSN and this deal is around 7/8m. From what we can compare.

Going by inflation MSNs last deal would be around 60m.

That inflation argument has to work both ways. So it is a fair leap to assume another 20m I would say.

Other clubs in EPL have a growing advantage and manufactured deals by oil clubs may well see them earn more in next couple years.

Not sure how Real will get 100m a season but never know.

I wasn't counting only the inflation. And yes, it goes both ways. I just think we would have got an upgraded deal over the Rakuten one. So 60 with inflation + the added marketability of MSN.

Pure speculation from my part.

Who thought that though?
Like, with examples?

Barca will be fine as a club, won't go bust (though came close for other reasons), but money was always gonna take a hit after a GOAT candidate time was up
Doing pretty fine within 6 months of his departure TBF. Secured a few decent names to go forward with and has several hip Spanish players for whom doesn't even need to pay anybody that could bring in further revenue in next few years
Consider that vs Real who are banking a lot on one or two names upfront bringing immediate success and ignoring just about everything else
Not saying grass is greener where Barca are, because ATM is far from it, but smaller sponsorship isn't an issue. United consistently bring in tonnes of money on brand, but look what they have to show for it compared with how Klopp era went from Skrtels all the way to VVDs

The added marketability of MSN was already included in the 55m in 2017 in comparison to them not being there.

Cant take the 55m that had MSN and then claim to add their marketability on top of that again when it was considered in the 55m deal.

With inflation it is 60m odd when look at both deals and could argue La Liga has lost some of its brand power since then when seen as best league in world also.

As I said what MSN and Messi did is one of reasons Barca still get comparatively big money even with them gone. That is where credit with Messi should lie.

The deal is acceptable, we get more money than Rakuten paid during COVID. Of course I'd prefer the 280m and still hope Barca reach a deal in that range.

So much for Messi being responsible for our sponsorship deals. Same as with Ronaldo at Madrid, these clubs are much bigger than any single player.

don't think anyone said otherwise.

Folk will get pissed off when club seemingly leak false information to media and Laporta is speaking about up to 40m for stadium naming rights etc when must know not anything they are close to agreeing.

Makes this type of deal seem worse in end when happens.

Of course it backfires on Laporta. Spotify reportedly agreed to 25m naming rights once the Camp Nou rebuild is complete, but by that time the sponsorship deal might have run its course.

To me these numbers are not acceptable (if true), we got 77.5m in 19/20 and 57.5m each year from 22/23 through 24/25, a 26% decline.

No need to package all three and give it to Spotify. Diversify and attract more and better offers.

Spotify will pay 5M for title rights, due to which the stadium will be called Spotify Camp Nou, from next season onwards. When the Espai Barca renovation is complete, it will be 20M per season. The title rights deal can last for up to 20 years max.

At first Spotify wanted the title rights for 30 years but Barca have reduced it to 20 years.

I understand the part about the paltry 5m for the Camp Nou title rights while it is being renovated, I was talking about the jersey/shirt/garment sponsorship totals. 77.5m then vs. 57.5m now, without the 5m for the title rights.

5m for title rights when wont even be in the stadium for at least a season of that.

Remains to be seen what Barca get for training kit and sleeve though would imagine be decent bit less than what Rakuten paid before.

The 'Spotify wanted 30 years' comes across as trying to deflect a bit from length of contract they have agreed to.

At this point I am not even thinking about the title rights, whatever it is worth. Just mad that for the garment sponsorships we managed to agree to 20m less than before.

We might get some sponsor for the left sleeve, won't be much. But the training kits, I highly doubt we will be able to sell the front when the back is already taken. I don't remember us or any other clubs having two sponsors on the training kits (national teams, yes, like Argentina). I hope to be proven wrong and we get some money there but not keeping my hopes up.

It isnt 20m less.

You are taking the full total from before which includes sleeve and training kit which there has been no confirmation of yet.

Also you have to consider where club and the league were at that point in comparison to now as well as it being a five year contract. In theory three year contract should be much more beneficial.

What were you expecting as a deal?

OK, not 20m less, maybe 10m less or whatever, it doesn't look like we will be able to recover what we had before, let alone getting more, very disappointing.

Sure, some will say, this is post-Messi, post-COVID so adjust your expectations but still, compared to other clubs like Manchester United (55+24 already and more from a sleeve sponsor), this is very low. Fuck Spotify.
