FC Barcelona Finances

That not even a sporting matter. We don't even have concerts and events, not even 70% that Madrid has if we belive this article (didn't they forbid some events in Bernabeu recently?). Not quite the same as what Laporta did in 2022.

Madrid utilizing their stadium for 200 million profit from concerts is awesome for them.
Will our stadium be able to host such events and generate income?

It will be mostly the Espai Barca project from what I understand, work will start after finishing Camp Nou.

Madrid stadium looks ugly, they failed in sound isolation, and so far their pitch is the worst in Europe top clubs. With sone pointing to it as a cause of the several ACL injuries they had.

They put too much emphasis on being "futuristic" but the downside of it is the uncounted drawbacks. They will likely fix all of this through time but it will cost them massively.

We will know in few years if Barca more "traditional " approach is better, because it is easy to point to their problems when we didn't see ours.

I understood the sound problem. Think they will fix it. As their pitch.
I also agree grass isn't always greener.

We are yet to see what problems we are into when stadium is done. Judging by timeline of work so far it's not that optimistic.

Btw. I thought Camp Nou renovation will be more expensive than 1,7 billion Madrid spent so far but alleged price of while Espai project is set at 1,5 billion.
That is good, if true.

Edit. Just read this as well:

However, there are mentions of costs potentially escalating to around €3 billion due to various factors like inflation, additional features, or unforeseen expenses during construction

Maybe but in this case I think I'm a realist. CN will probably finish in 2027, that leaves only 3 years for Palau. Do we even have permits and a contract with builders (will it be Limak?) for building Palau yet?

Pretty sure they have all (pre)contracts signed for a whole Espai Barca project including Nou Palau Blaugrana.

You sure? They presented the Espai project all together and they wanted to build the stadium and Palau at the same time if I remember correctly but later abandoned the Palau part until CN is finished. I think it's possible that Palau is not in the permits and contracts but I don't know. Didn't they want to build Palau in the place where Mini Estadi was?

How big is the Espai Project anyways?

Madrid also have a basketball stadium, so surely it won't compete with the toilet seats for mega events in Spain.

15,000 will be the new capacity.

It won't be able to host mega events, but lots of medium size events and concerts.

The Camp nou will be for mega events in the 4-6 week off season, plus the entire "space" is will be generating income year round, not just the stadium.

It's hard to compare costs. Everything is a lot more expensive now than when Madrid built theirs. Plus we got rid of the 360 screen and opted for a more lightweight roof, while Madrid have fancy functions like retractable roof and pitch and of course the massive 360 screen that adds nothing but more costs.

To add to this, I have just seen that the Wizlink is also 15k capacity, but not owned by Madrid. So they don't receive event bump and are instead leasing the stadium just for matches- but knowing Madrid probably severely subsidized.

If the New Palau could be bumped to 20k would be huge, but not necessary.

So yeah, it's a good strategy, with the focus on preservation of the camp Nou pitch being best.

FC Barcelona will hold an Extraordinary Assembly this coming December 21 to ratify the new agreement with Nike, which will last until 2038, and this Tuesday the compromising partners have had access to a document in which several details of the contract extension are revealed. with the American brand, although the exact figures of the agreement have not been specified due to confidentiality issues.

I don't understand how socios can confirm this deal without knowing exact numbers. Why not make this public? What are they hiding? They did the same with Spotify deal too. So much for Laporta's transparency.
