the spanish team can have the advantage of llorente if it means we get the advantage of messi.

if we cloned the players and did spain vs. barca, barca would win 9 times out of 10.

I love llorente, more than any of you for sure. I was calling for a powerhouse #9 coming up on three years ago now. but he will not come here. messi plays false9 more often than not, which means villa on the left and pedro/boje/iniesta on the right. we're not gonna make messi take a step back to incorporate llorente into our starting XI, and he's far too good to be an emergency plan B.

Nope Meta,our first choice centrally will be Messi,he is far better centrally for me and the team plays better with his smart movements there but we need something different,he is too good to be an emergancy plan B but he role wont be only emergancy,we have Pedro-Messi-Pedro covering our front line,Bojan is an interesting talent but he will never reach the potential we expected from him 2 years ago if he is our first back up choice for all front 3,Jeffren didnt prove himself so far,if we sign Llorente he will get his minutes(rotations-injures-supersub) and he will provide something different,maybe if you view the squad you will think that our attack is not that thin considering the versatility of Iniesta-Busquetes but its not a lack of players its a lack of options,if you think that signing Llorente will be that bad,then why did we sign Mascherano?he will push Busquetes further forward where we have far better options(Keita-Iniesta and argubaly Thiago)signing a DMF was a must and now signing a striker is a must(a striker who offers us sth new for sure)

we do need a true9, I said so at the start of the season, but we need to sign someone at a different stage of their career. llorente is a player who is at the stage of his career where he needs to play as much as possible. he is a phenomenal talent and if we signed him we would just be squad-stacking ala reial, which we don't do. klose is an example of a good player that fits the role we demand and is at a point in his career where fitting that role is fine. we wouldn't be hurting anyone signing klose as our backup #9, hell it's the role he currently has at bayern.

mascherano is a wholly different situation as we had NO backup DM, so purchasing one of proven quality was essential. and badger will see much more minutes than any backup forward purely because he and busquets will share the role (or play together, as well), as was customary with busquets and yaya.

we do have good crossers (dani, maxi, adri) and someone that is a real aerial presence up-front would be very nice, but you're right that they must also be mobile and good with their feet. klose is pretty agile and skilled, but llorente isn't as quick-footed as he would need to be were he anything more than a desperation plan B.

Conclusion ? Drogba ? Someone who can break the offside trap with style of play similar to Messi's ? Klose would be good, but unrealistic. Maybe Anelka

tevez would not be great with villa and messi.

tevez plays best in a front 2, not a front 3, and he needs freedom in his role. there's a reason city are seeing the best of him when united couldn't get it out of him consistently. he wanted to play in the same spaces as rooney at united, and he'd want to play in the same spaces as messi/andrés for us.

great player, but not for us.
