I think Torres is more concerned about the CL than the league title, otherwise he wouldn't have gone to Liverpool
Neither City nor Liverpool can offer him that at the moment, so it really limits his choices down to either Chelsea or to another country.

Villa is the fans number 1 choice, he would sell more shirts than Torres also.

I'm sure Torres would sell record breaking numbers, much more than Ibra anyway, I'd like Villa personally, but you could debate their qualities all day, discuss who's better individually or collectively, who'd fit in the barca system etc, but ultimately there's a couple of things in the way of this, firstly it's Bojan who's staying put and more importantly Ibra, second most expensive transfer in history.

He's made it clear that he suffers physically in England, i'm sure Chelsea would be tempting but Italy looks a more likely possibility if any club were to afford him or inevitably spain, Barca..

If City wanted then they could treble anything Chelsea are willing to offer. Plus Torres joined Liverpool who haven't been a title winning side for almost 20 years. There is nothing Liverpool can offer Torres that we can't. You may not hear what the opinions of people in England are But apart from all our jealous rival fans pretty much everybody thinks City will win the Title within the next couple of years and Torres knows this too. Like i say, I think he will stay at Liverpool for at least another year and i certainly don't think he wants to go back to Spain. He says playing in the EPL is what he always dreamed of.

P.S. Are you an American girl who likes Footy? If so then you should definitely be crowned 'Coolest girl in history' :)

Yes they probably could but the question is, will they? Haven't heard much out of them since the Chelsea bid came out, in fact I heard Mancini was talking about backing out of the bid at one point. Torres gave an interview recently about being worried that staying in the EPL might prematurely end his career, that is why many people think he will return to Spain. And the fact that both Barca and his old club Atletico are rivals to Real Madrid makes us think that he would come to Barca rather than RM if both made an offer, since they would be the only logical places for someone seeking a competitive CL team.

About City possibly winning a title, at least it is a better alternative to United  Although I am not a fan of either since I am a Liverpool supporter when it comes to strictly English clubs... Barca is my number one in all of Europe though.

And lol yes I am, thanks haha :)

I really believe that we should sign him. We may entertaining a bill of ~150M after Ibra's sale, but I think that landing Villa, Fab & Torres will offset their cost on three accounts:

1. We wasted the CL this year & only won La Liga by a whisker. I still think that our undoing in these situations came from us rather than Inter or Real; but next year it will be much harder, especially if Mourinho moves to Spain.
2. Torres is not only 3 years younger than Villa; he is a much more marketable players. If C. Ronaldo is any measure, at least we can count on T paying his transfer bill off the pitch.
3. Torres' game suits Villa much more than does Ibra. With him in the fold, our XI & substitutes lineup in attack & midfield would be set. The only big move I see us making the year after the next would be probably for a CB if the +50M we spend on CB comes to naught. So we will be saving a hefty sum in 2 years time.

No way. Torres is just way too much, he's one of my favorite but I hope we don't get him.

Plus that fact that he's one of those players that we just don't have to worry about getting snatched by Real Madrid

I've thrown in the towel over him - for now anyway, he may fit in the future - because there is honestly just no room for him anymore. We would have to bench a good player every match if we added him to our squad now. Even if we ditched Ibra it would be rather crowded up front. I definitely want him here eventually though, maybe in another couple seasons because it is still my dream to have him in the blaugrana kit!

And it takes a lot for me to man up and say that it is hopeless for next season

I don't think that we don't have a place for him if we offload Ibra. We would have MTV as our XI and Pedro & Bojan as their replacements. If we don't offload Ibra, then it would be the same situation if we were to sign T. If we offload Ibra we would be having only 1 player as replacement for 3. Pedro is good, but he's not Torres caliber and Bojan can look for a lengthy career ahead of him that won't be hampered if we implement an effective rotation policy.

The cost is the only barrier, but his marketability alone would offset it.

But the point is our up-and-coming guys (Pedro, Bojan) would be relegated to just 5-10 min of playing time per match if any at all.

Obviously I was all for Torres if Villa wasn't happening but he is so that changes things. Plus if we get Cesc then money becomes an issue too.

Yes.

I think I addressed the money issue in the above posts.

& I also that I did provide some remarks about the state of P//B. Pedro is good, but not as good as Torres; besides a 1-2 trident formation is much more accommodating to Messi & Villa than a 2-1 formation with a lone striker. So its either Pedro or the team & I am afraid the team comes first. As for Bojan, I do believe it may be a year or two before he becomes a regular; so…

& from the rumors it does appear that Rosell is keen on his signing; but rumors are rumors obviously.

Even if we sold Ibra it'd still be an expensive buy, although definitely more doable and there would be a set place for Torres. Although thinking about it the past few days I do worry that it would come at the huge expense of playing time for our rising stars.

But hot damn if it could somehow work out someday...

We can't do this. I'm sorry but we are not Madrid, but we are definately heading that way. Buying world class players we don't need.

Henry is leaving = Villa in
Cesc in

Why do we need Torres? We have Ibra, Bojan and Villa who can play in the centre. Lets say Ibra leaves, we still have enough quality imo to fill the attack and if we buy Cesc then Iniesta will be pushed up aswell.

Hopefully its just paper talk.
