Hi, its me..
di marias been on a special training regime apparently, id be surprised if he didnt start. If youre gonna risk a player for one game.. its the WC final :p

I think germany will just edge it though, i think their strength in midfield, the extra day off and not having to play extra time will help them, although i do think the brazil game makes them look much better than they have been in others. Strangely i dont think any team has looked that great in this world cup for two straight games :eusa_think: which might be why its been a great tournament

I dont believe in the 'saving himself for the final' argument either, i really hope messi/argentina have an excellent game, it seems like the press here have only just realised hes been walking about for most of the game and seem to be criticizing him over it now  when most of us here have noticed it a lot last season. Would be a shame if they lose and he gets criticized for lack of effort, especially in such a big game. You can tell the way he celebrated after the penalties that it means a lot to him, and everyone else.

For all the talk about argentinas awesome front line, its been their defence thats looked the most impressive. I dont think the front 3 have clicked at all, and whilst everyone was worried about their backline and keeper going into the competition, i think theyve had the most clean sheets?

I dont think theyve won by more than one goal in each game either, so its gonna be close :messi:

He was limping off the pitch during the last training session, from what I read today.

Maybe it's my age, but I'm desperate to see Argentina lift the World Cup tonight. Batistuta, Ortega, Ayala, Zanetti. Always glorious in failure.

Also want Maxi and Mascherano to be world cup winners.

It will also be sweet as I bet Ronaldo thought he had BD wrapped up in May but Messi will have that locked down if he wins tonight.

A man of Messi's talents should have a world cup to his name.

But Messi will never be as good as Maradona. Maradona had better defences against him to unlock and did it in much tighter spaces. The 86 final is proof of that really.

Anyway the Argies are due a win over the Germans. Germany ko'd them in 06 and 10 so I see Argies winning tonight.

A repeat of the 86 final score line (3-2) is 40/1 I put a £1 on that.

Really felt Argentina's name is on this trophy since Brazil were announced to host the 2014 world cup. It is just mean to be IMO.

I think Germany will be shocked. They come from a 7-1 win over Brazil that has made them think that they are a fantastic team. They don't realise that they only won because Brazil had completely collapsed without Neymar. Holland could have gotten very similar result if their game really mattered. Germany's confidence is too big to be good and there's no reason for it. At no point have they played fantastic. Now they will play against a solid team with a defence that has been very strong since Sabella made some changes prior to match against Belgium. Higaun is sparkling, and ofcourse Messi. I don't think Aguero should start in at all. Lavezzi or Palacio should definately start in.

I predict 4-1 to Argentina if di Maria plays, 2-1 if he doesn't.

Lol what?

Germany hasn't look good? They destroyed Portugal 4:0,Brazil 7:1,completely nullified both USA and France without conceding against either, beating them both...what has Argentina done? They didn't deserve a single victory in the knockout rounds.Completely lucked out against Switzerland, lucked out against Holland and played the Chelsea version of football against Belgium.

They haven't outplayed a single team these championships, not even Iran...easily the worst World Cup finalist in the last 20 years.

They are as overhyped as Brazil, and were just as lucky as them...the only difference between them was that Neymar got hurt and Messi didn't.It's embarrassing to think what would have happened to Argentina had Messi was the recipient of the injury.

Argentina were the better team in all of their games so far. Without being spectacular.

That is just a load of nonsense you have written about them being lucky.

Germany are better team and rightly favourites but your views on Argentinas performances is laughably one sided.

In 2009 Barcelona won the treble. In 2010 they won the league and reached the CL semi final. Spain then won the world cup.

In 2013 Bayern Munich won the treble. In 2014 they won the league and reached the CL semi final....................................

I'm confident that we'll be champions in a few hours. It will be a hard match and we have to be focused throughout the entire game since Argentina is always able to hurt us but if we play like we did in our previous matches, I can see us celebrating our 4th title tonight :)

Maybe not like in the Algeria match ;) Though Neuer is certainly allowed to be as good as in said match.

I can see that almost everyone are confident that Germany will win. But how mad will you be if Argentina will win? I can see Argentina surprising everyone.
