Specifically Christensen who is out there that is better for that price..
Likes of United, Spurs, Arsenal would all easily pay 40m+ for Christensen I would wager.

I will miss Kessie, I liked Kessie.
Don't reckon Christensen has a higher status compared to Lenglet when we bought him for 36m for example.

Lenglet had a buy out so that is not relevant.
Who knows what he was valued at but Christensen has proven more at higher level than Lenglet did before moved.
Definitely has a higher status and more top clubs after him.
Ability is only one part of it, hype is another. Don't think Christensen is hyped enough for teams to pay an extra few million for him.
40m gets you a good and highly rated youngster like Konate. Christensen doesn't have that 'sexiness' to warrant a higher price tag, even if his ability is good.

Clubs are not daft and they watch and analyse players to try and establish their ability not whether they are 'sexy' enough.
It is ability that would get him that fee.
So clubs would pay 35m.. but not sexy enough for 40m. Strange argument.
Again you are going with players who have release clauses. Konate had that for 40m.

I think 100m for 2 players is basically a mid-market affair now. It's time you guys realize this. 100m gets you one top-class player. Not two.
If Kessie and Christensen are 35-40m players and we get them for free, it's pretty damn great business. Not sure about Kessie, but we need someone like Christensen who has on ball ability and is not a complete wuss.

That's a pretty smart way to build a competitive side. Find bargains that fit what we try to play. We'll never build a strong team only with kids, the veterans have improved but are still without any future, and we can't afford more than one big-money signing, not even that atm probably.

This last year or so CBs sold by Chelsea
Timori left Chelsea for 25m+
Zouma left Chelsea for over 30m.
Guehi left Chelsea for Palace for 20m.
Yet Christensen who has played well for them week in week out and won CL with them is not sexy enough to get over 35m for on market...

Only PSG and United hand out big contracts like Christmas candy. Liverpool don't even wanna pay their legend Salah properly. Bayern are pretty cheap as well. Not many options are available.
Barca is a tier 1 club. Only 3-4 other similar clubs around. Madrid just signed Camavinga for a Kessie-type role. Chelsea are in trouble with the Russian thing.
