Second that. Get that Mata for 3 times less and we are fine.
For the same price I would rather have Zlatan than Ribery, providing that Eto'o stays. A Messi-Zlatan/Eto'o trident playing in a 1-2 setup would be much more potent than with Ribery:
1. More freedom for Messi to escape marking, exploit the weakness of the opposition's defense and capitalize on the huge holes created by the 2 CF
2. A better scoring chances conversion rate
3. Impracticality of man marking by the opposition
4. The capacity to backtrack and assist in defense without leaving a gap upfront
5. With the possession of good attacking fullbacks (Alves-Zhirkov) + Messi + Eto & Zlatan's capability to play on both wings; the loss in breadth would be negligible if at all

Well, we heard the same thing a couple of years ago when we won La Liga & CL: If it ain't broken don't fix it. & IMO there was a lot of reasons to feel that way, we had a very young squad that was already the best in the world, we had won everything and the future looked even brighter. Xavi was absent for most of the season (6 months) yet we had won everything even without him, R10 was the best player in the world, Messi was already blossoming into something special and Iniesta was not far behind. But look what happened!!Do you need to post about your 'famous' 1-2 formation in EVERY post?
All of it is assumption, and assumption is the mother of all f'ups.
What Barca do currently works and works well, if it's not broke don't fix it.

My points are not assumptions as I am not the 1st to suggest playing with such a formation. Milan had already achieved some fantastic results with it a couple of years back, & Spain implemented it when it won the Euro 2008. Not to mention that we had we played with a very similar variant during our 6-2 against Madrid and the CLF; clearly it seems that we f'up when we did so
+1Most sensible post for pages. Anything over 40m for Ribery is daylight robbery and we shouldn't go down that route.
