His worst game in the Barca outfit. You can give 1000 excuses but true talent is always obvious, no matter how good or bad his teammates perform. And in this regard he has been underwhelming so far.

I still believe he will come thru in time, but I also believe the expectations are waaaayyy to high. In most Ajax and Dutch NT games he never was the one with te key-passes. Defensively decent, great link-up play, but not more than that. I feel that with all the pressure he is trying to do more than his skillset allows.

lol he played against Bayern.

Fair enough, he was under Setien. But now he's under his preferred manager of choice and still putting on average performances.

Needs to get it together.

He is like a second declining busquets atm. Didnt watch him play often before but those few matches i saw he was already prone to errors. He is nothing special but he can still be a decent player for us but i very doubt he will ever reach a wc lv. Ajax had a great team and made him look better than he actually is. He is still young so everything can happen.

This is like the 4th high profile transfer in a row that's looked a shadow of himself now. Coutinho, Dembele, Griezmann, and Fdj. Griezmann was a free roaming second striker in Atletico, now he's either a right or left winger and being asked to take on players and playmake. Coutinho was a hybrid attacking midfielder in Liverpool, was asked to play as a left winger in Barcelona. The setup Fdj had in Ajax isn't nonexistent here. I'm still not sure what he is, at first I was led to believe he was a Busquets replacement but now he needs another DM to play alongside him. But people here wouldn't exactly call him a b2b player...he's being played at CAM as well...he's a xavi type player...uh...what?

Perhaps the issue aren't the players we buy, but the club that buys them. Just saying.

People will soon realize he's not really that good and that the great system carried him at Ajax.Just like others from that team-Zyiech,Van der Beek, De Ligt.Frenkie de Jong wasn't even their best player in that CL campaign, yet people here saw him as the second coming of Xavi.

He regressed sadly when he chased money and went to that one team league (Bar?a being the tyrant) and even succeeded in losing the league to underdog and upcoming young club from Madrid.

Not the Dutch legacy i would expect from him after his ancestors like Cruijff, Reiziger, Affelay, De Boer or Koeman left an everlasting impression.

PSG dodged a big bullet.

Another Bartomeu masterclass.

This sarcasm is not even funny.

Well, you know it is exactly what would have been said if de Jong had joined PSG and been average as he is now. I'm just having my little fun now, especially when Paredes our back up solution was a full time benchwarmer in his first months.

I still believe de Jong but i agree with the guy who said Ajax system were making their players look better. It is an huge credit to their coach.

He will maybe not reach the world class or next big thing potential but he can become a very solid and reliable player in the next future.

And soon, i'll start hate Real Madrid much more when they'll come with a 100 M offer for Mbapp?... and when they'll double down by taking Camavinga. You'll have to defeat the Franco sympathizers. They are already our enemies after they robbed us in that Jes? deal. Till this day, his wage keeps automatically increasing every year and every club he has been loaned to wanted to end the loan prematurely. That is quite some feat. Maybe the biggest robbery in our whole history.

You have been here long enough to know how fickle some people here are. I am not ready to throw my verdict out on De Jong or anybody yet, because the whole team has been underwhelming for a while and I just don't believe anybody will be particularly good with the rut we have been in. So I don't think it is about De Jong here, it is about us as a team.
