FDJ and Gavi go and dominate a couple of games from midifled in international football when given freedom to move and dictate game from middle of park.

Xavi? Sees them as failiing at their jobs of being positional cones up the park to give options to the main man Busi on the ball and to support a CF he leaves so isolated due to wide players posted to the sidelines.

Pathetic.

Gavi-Frenkie-Pedri our best midfield?

I'm actually curious if Xavi was manager of Busquets, Iniesta and himself, how he would have the midfield play.

Prime Iniesta and Busquets would have done fine under him, but I am not sure Xavi the player would have loved Xavi the manager.

Bar?a's technical staff were surprised by Frenkie de Jong's comments about his position on the pitch. They consider that his problem at Bar?a is his lack of leadership, not his tactical role.

I think Xavi the manager has his midfielders playing like Xavi the player. I think Xavi the player would question Xavi the managers willingness to keep playing players like Dembele, when they destroy every attack, and why better suited players aren't told to play creatively, when the wingers are so poor.

Xavis tactics often ends up a cul-de-sac (french)

Whatever you may think of Frenkie. The midfield is shared with a 17 year old (or 19 year old when Pedri is there) and a 34 year old (in a months time). Ideally the 25 year old would lead the midfielder.

But then if your focusing the midfield to prop up the defensive midfielder. Then that may go out the window.

When Frenkie has been the lone DM and given the freedom of Busquets he's played ok/good. We also ended up winning those games. Then Xavi comments some crap about x or y not being quite good enough with Frenkie, compared to Busquets. The absolute idiot can't understand Busquets has had that exact role for 12+ years now, even with the same CB behind him. Of course there'll be some things Busquets gets right, positioning/timing. And of course Frenkie is going to still be rusty and not as comfortable given he gets to play that role twice a season. Yet he still performs well enough. If Frenkie, Gavi and Pedri isn't the starting midfield next season then we don't deserve young talented players.

How about we give Frenkie half a season in that position and see what he can achieve? If not then sell him right now for anything above 70m.

Frenkie has been underwhelming, but selling him to keep Busquets as the undisputed starter and bringing in a player like Soler is likely going to make us worse next season. People dreaming about Bernardo Silva.....it aint happening.

Xavi's critics might be right about everything they have said about him.
