Easily in our top 3 of all midfielders and should stay if he wants to stay.

Laughable the board seems to have banked on him leaving in order to register new players (idiotic if true)

Why is it idiotic? Every club plans summer sales as apart of their transfer strategy.

City, Liverpool, Madrid, you name a top club, they do it. Even without our current financial issues, we would have planned on selling players in the summer to balance our NetSpend, out current situation just makes it even more critical.

The fact that literally no one including De jong wants to leave Barcelona, speaks to the pull of the city, club & the ridiculous contracts that were sign by bartomeu.

The guy is clearly our most valuable asset that the club doesn't see as critical to our long term plans, so he was always gonna be put up.

It’s idiotic because the player is still here and doesn’t seem like he wants to leave…? Wouldn’t you have conversations with said player to be 100% sure they are on board with being sold? Especially when there is very limited funds and you are banking on their sale to balance the books?

Pretty sure conversations were held, they didn't just pick the phone up & say you're going to man Utd and hang up.

Players aren't always 100% in agreement with a transfer before they negotiations take place it rarely works like that, it's a negotiation, where more often times than not, everyone has to make some compromises, so far de jong doesn't seem willing to make any.

I don't buy that the club can't register signings unless Frenkie reduces.
We have activated levers, we are not in the 1:3 anymore, but in the 1:1 and we have plenty of cash available.

That might be the card they play as part of their pressuring tactic towards him.
The real reason is that there is a new wage structure in place and Lewy will be the highest earner.
Everyone has to adhere to that, and the club is doing the right thing in being brutal towards implementing it

Board knew all along Frenkie would never play submissive but circulating their demand and the transfer talks to ManU was strategical:

1/ It sends a clear message to all the players and agents out there that Xmas is over and Barca is no longer a hacked slut machine

2/ It allows them to maintain a tough negotiating stance with existing squad. Act broke and folks won't ask for handouts

3/ It protects their rears. Whatever happens now, they are absolved. Frenkie's the villain. They can say: "We tried everything but he refused to leave" so for ex. "Sorry, we had no choice but to let MaTS go" .

just suits spinning webs and taking care of pr :coffee:

Frenkie would be on insane wages at United to make up for the fact they aren't winning anything any time soon, probably on parity with the PL top earners, so I don't believe this is about money. If he stays he'll accept the wage cut, maybe once the dust has settled, after the tour, he'll be more receptive to that idea.

I saw a post on another forum and pretty much agreed; Frenkie is 25 years old entering his prime, in a world cup year. I doubt he stays and sits on massive wages out of spite to become public enemy #1 at the club he loves.

Why can't we just demand 100m for United and they pay his wages?

They're desperate for players I don't understand what the hold up is?

Are they really that much if a shit show that FDJ doesn't want to move there?

We can't pay him 17m cause it's wages and it will fuck up our wage cap.

He won't accept the 17m in installments cause he's a clown and united is a joke so he does not want to go there either

17m is too much for average player

Just ask for 120m from United and then pay him 17m out of that so he can go there

If he has good agent he can ask for 500k pounds a week like Ronaldo did

The British managing United not very bright

I'll really like to see what happens if Frenkie doesn't accept a wage cut and doesn't leave. You can't go on a signing spree if you're not 100% certain some players would leave and he literally has a contract so that's legal backing
