Are we sure Chelsea also agree with whatever Bartomeu signed up to give him? I mean one thing is deferred payments up to present, and another the contract he might have from now until 2026. There's still 4 years until 2026. Do we know how much that contract is?

Once a player is sold the remaining years of his contract are void. If Chelsea are willing to pay the deferred wages or any other bonuses we currently owe him there's nothing more we will pay him.

OK, but what if Chelsea's contract is gonna be lower than whatever that dumb fuck Bartomeu signed up for until 2026? He'll be losing money from this point forward.

He wants to stay and collect his deferred wages. Which he's entitled to but I agree with a great post serghei made a couple days ago.

We are a fan owned club which relies on good financial management and we can't afford to pay players that aren't performing like superstars. We're not a charity even if Barto made us like one. It's a two way street and footballers have to face accountability for their performances too and can be put on the transfer list/pressured/whatever.

It's not that you can't pressure players, but the tactics used are just down right unprofessional and imo unethical.

How sure are we about this? Aren't there clauses that remain active even after a player is sold?

Which clauses would that be?

Perhaps some idiotic forms of loyalty bonuses Bartomeu and co. put in our players' contracts that were paid out July 1st or August 1st, but apart from that there would be nothing more to be paid by us if a player is sold.

I dunno...weren't there supposed clauses that prohibit a player from playing for a rivaling club the coming x years?

Wasn't that revealed in the Bale contract leaks?

Could be made up stuff again by folks. Similar to how we still not sure if shirt sales are profitable for a club or not.

Any offer he receives from other clubs will be lower than that tbf, the only hope is CL football might sway it for him. The guy is living his dream; beautiful city, dream club and getting paid a wage he won't receive elsewhere. No wonder he's gluing himself to the club.

Yeah, he's banking on the same stuff Dembele banked on. That the club won't sideline him if he does well, despite not playing ball with the contract and wages.

He knows he has value and the club can't afford to turn him into an example by having him in the stands and whatnot like a Brathwaite.

This threatening to sue business appears to be a bit ridiculous and unfair. But we should wait to see exactly who is implicated and how before we pass judgement, and if there is criminality/shady bookkeeping, if Frenkie had knowledge of it in any way.

Didn't he already take a huge wage cut?

He did, but he played even when he and his agent were giving us shit. Hopefully, De Jong will follow suit.

I'd play him at first. Win-win. If he does badly he will leave because he will be worried about making the team. If he does great, he'll wanna stay for the team like Dembele eventually did.

If you cut Dembele from the team in the winter when the scandal with him happened, no way he extends for fewer money this summer. You played him, let him know what he's gonna miss, and we kept him on good terms. The problem for De Jong is that Xavi is not on his side. That should make him take the Chelsea deal.

Sadly we have no leverage in this situation, leaking stuff like this to piss him off will mean he digs his heels even more and he knows we won't sit him in the stands, the same shit was levelled against Dembele.

Real Madrid put clauses when they sold players that were essentially if X player is sold to a Spanish club within the next four years you have to pay us 50m for it.

Basically putting off clubs from re-selling players to Barca I guess as I'd imagine Real Madrid would waive that clause if one of their ex-players were sold to Getafe or some shit.
