Yep. He messed up many times but luckily got the assist to winning goal, which made him the hero.

Overall though, it was a bad game from Netherlands and other players looked way worse than Frenkie.

No one has an 'obsession' with playing him as a sole DM.

He is more effctive there than Busquets and been Barcas best mid playing in CM with freedom to move and has been better than Gavi even in Xavis more held position.

FDJ has looked 'defensively good enough' near enough every time played DM...Particularly when compare it to other players who play there.

Has gone from him not being able to pass ball forward in some folks eyes to him only being able to pass ball and run with it and not defend in others.

Also he has played CB in a back three.. and can because he reads the game very well.

This idea he is poor defensively or worse than Busi is laughable.

MOTM means little when Ronaldo gets one v Ghana.... but he was NL best player quite easily.

Showing in these games how well he reads the game defensively.. which is often made out to be something he doesnt do.

Frenkie had decent game but feels like LVG putting shackles on him and playing him more in defensive role on left hand side and when gets ball there is no one close enough to interact and move ball quickly to or to cover him if was to take ball up park.

Netherlands feel very formuliac and the 'positional cones' type set up with players staying in zones to make pitch bigger and develop rehersed patterns of play from coaching staff. With players too far apart.

Not a good side and will need a lot of luck after group stage to go much further.
