Gabriel Jesus

Careful, guys. Apparently rm also sent one of theirs here, to sign him.

RM are after Gabriel Barbosa, whom we have 1st refusal deal with Santos
"one of theirs" could be just for Barbosa or to put pressure on us to not match offer for Gabriel .fort of "if you get our target we will get yours"

Tbh. I am not remotely impressed as I was with Neymar. Also, position he plays is same as Neymar's.

Would rather see us look for left-footed forward or a strong central striker.

Officially we paid 57M for Neymar (and we know he cost us even more). that is more than twice what Gabriel would cost us in even more inflated market. Probably if you consider market inflation and the total money paid he is costing us like one third/quarter Neymar
For me he isn't the next Neymar, but I am impressed with him and rate him as a player who is worth at least half of what Neymar cost us

That said, developing behind MSN is my biggest concern tbf

I go for Gabriel Jesus as our best option, considering his price and versatility.

The alternative; a big and old donkey and target man up front who can only play in Suarez' position is not an attractive option. He'll get like 5 games max and will be rusty all the time if he's called upon. And those donkey players tend to have heavy first touches.

tbf Bojan is raising some good points
You can talk about versatility, but you ignore that in the RW/LW we have few players that play those positions who are coach favorites and has youth and experience over Jesus in Rafinha & Denis .If he is signed he will most likely end up the back up CF just like Gameiro b/c the back up wings will be for Denis.A player who Lucho tried to get last year but FIFA didn't approve and he showed huge improvement through that year
Also I suspect that a veteran player will make it easier to convince MSN to get more rest.Pedro got his minutes and no body complained.when his role moved to younger players they suddenly hated to get a single minute of rest.
The situation is more complicated than a white or black situation tbh. There is a pros and cons for both signings tbf

I dont see the pros of buying an old and rusty donkey up front, tbh. And I dont want to see Rafa on the wings. He is slow as a turtle, while Denis is a very different player than a goal scoring forward like Gabriel Jesus.

He's not supposed to join right away.

Will likely finish the season with Palmeiras until January and not join the team until 2018.

That's perfect. Can see us signing another experienced forward too while we're at it.

Where do we get the money for this? An old donkey will cost 30m probably. Or are you suggesting signing a 35 year old striker on a free transfer or something until Gabriel Jesus joins?

He just means a physical stronger striker who could actually play Suarez role. The names were just examples.

When there are none available at a decent price I dont see the point. Especially since that striker will hardly play. It will just be Ezquerro 2.0.

It would be the type of signing Barca and Madrid are famous for. We need to go for him. Even if he by some chance doesn't make it here, we can sell him for added value anyway, like we did with Sanchez.

The probabilty of losing money on this kid if we buy him for up to 30m. is slim. Imagine if we struck gold and have Neymar - Jesus for the future, and we buy Dybala later let's say. That would be thinking ahead.

It's not like we have any La Masia striker taking the world by storm, and tbh, there aren't many super-promising young attackers out there. I'd say sign him up fast, and tie him up on a 5 year contract with us. Once he's signed we can see what's the right trajectory for him, career wise.

Umtiti was signed on last year's budget and I can't see us signing a fullback or midfielder.

Should be enough for two FWs.

That said I'd rather we actually sign a RB. Going in with Roberto and Aleix is quite the risk.

Yea, but there's only one Dani Alves. Even at this age, he's the best. No matter who we buy it's a downgrade in quality. I'm one of the guys who support signing a RB, but if you ask me which one right now, I can't say. I'd rather secure a potential world class striker.

The fact that he has a special release clause for Barcelona at 24m is an excellent opportunity for us. We cant allow more opportunities just drift by without acting.

I think we can sign a player like Bruno Peres (who can play on both full backs) for 15m in addition to signing Gabriel Jesus. Bruno Peres has been one of the best full backs in Italy for a couple of seasons now. Who doesnt want to see this for us :D
