Gabriel Milito

Beast

The Observer
I think he had been rehabilitated 100% (or at least as much as one CAN be rehabilited after cruciate ligament damage). It wasnt a few weeks after...i think it was at least 2 or 3 months after he had returned to full fitness. Iim no doctor but from what i hear, after cruciate ligament damage your ligament never returns to the way it was before. So some people get injured a month later, some a year later, some never. But there is always more risk of it being injured. Therefore gonzalo and milito are in the same boat in my opinion.

if i remember correctly Maz it was his first game.. i might be wrong though i'm not 100 % sure of the time line
some people recover nicely me thinks , some never .. in Milito case the Madrid doctors found his knee hasn't recovered properly from the first injury and said he is very likely to have constant knee problems..

it's a setback in the recovery.. just because he played 1/2 a game doesn't mean he was declared fit at all.. he didn't even play the entire game .. what people call rushing him back

He was declared fit to play Beast. You don't pick players who aren't fit enough to play. Doctors evaluate it and say "he can play" or "he can't play". He was told he could play, which is You don't play players with knee difficulties if they aren't fit, simple.

A fresh tear to the same ligament is NOT a setback in the recovery. It is a new injury.

I cant say for sure, but i remember when he got reinjured that i thought to myself "wow such a shame he didnt even manage to play half a season and already he is injured again". If it was his first game back my reaction would have been completely different.

Anyway, i wouldnt say he has had constant knee problems. As far as i am aware this is the first time it has caused him problems in 5 seasons. Not to mention we had a major problem with our medical staff last season and also the warm up of players was evidently no way near adequate. In hindsight, madrid would have loved to have a defender like milito for 5 seasons, no? Even if he did get injured eventually.

True, the point I made with Gonzalo was that he now has a weakness in his knee that means he will always have the chance of a recurrance. Same with Milito. But Gonzalo has recovered and is now playing a very productive role for Villarreal, back in the form that drew the likes of Utd, Barça, Chelsea and Liverpool to take a look at him in 05/06. However now he has his knee problems the big clubs will likely think twice, but it doesn't mean he isn't a good player.

There is no reason Milito can't do the same.

Can't wait till he returns, hoipefully it'l be the last injury he ever needs to worry about and he gets his form back nice and easily.

If he does return for next season, wouldn't he be behind Puyol, Pique & Marquez, based on their strong performance this season? Not to mention we also have Henriques, Caceres & Victor. I have a feeling either he or Marquez won't be with us next year.

I don't think this guy can give us something extra. So out with him.
But who's going to buy?

Henrique is going to stay in Barca this year, and will have a year to adapt. Caceres probably on loan.
that still leaves us with 4 central defenders.

It seems to me almost everyone wants him out. I think he should get another shot... hope he can recover his form, because as a defender he was pretty solid and he can perform consistently and form a solid CB pair with Piqué... But it remains to be seen if Milito will be able to regain full fitness and form, especially considering his long lay off.
