Already one promising player (Gio)'s career was essentially ruined by being hyped as the "Mexican Messi" and not allowed to develop at his own pace. I don't think it was bad for his career to move to a new club, but I'm not sure if Spurs was the right choice.

We really need to stop expecting 18 year olds to automatically be superstars. It's already potentially hurting Bojan even if he's coming off a good game. If you look at the majority of the club's players most were at least 20 before they broke out, even those who were getting attention at a younger age (Xavi and Puyol for us, Alves for Sevilla) were role players for their first few seasons without major demands.

Yup I totally agree. We overhyped and rated Gai that we're never happy when we see him playing and we forget that not everyone can be a Messi.

I feel sorry for Bojan, Gai, Dos Santos because they've been compared to and expected to be like Messi and that isn't going to happen for at least another generation if not our lifetimes. We need to lay-off just a little bit.

Gio dug his own grave by letting his moron agent control everything he did, it wasn't just the crowd's expectations.

I was about to post that, but it is true. Wenger right now is looking for some future talent like he has done in the past and got Fabregas, Merida who are 2 great players and Barca talent as well. So maybe Gai could be a future great player in midfield, but it will take time for sure.

He also interviewed and said :
"It's a matter of time and everything goes gradually. If eventually I get the chance, I will prove myself and know myself even surpass the most emotional moments. I think it will come"

Training alongside the names of Leo Messi, Thierry Henry, Zltan Ibrahimović others, Assouline said: "It's a great experience training with these players. All summer with graduates of Barcelona was something extraordinary for me. This experience then this experience gives me experience many things like to play more games on the Level"

"Overall I enjoyed and I have to work hard to get more time and get the opportunity. But work hard, I need all the time to learn. Anything you do not do well you need to improve. With these things come to a level where I want to reach. My game is based on technique and speed and I hope I can show it. "

Sell him now tbh.. I'm still not convinced he has the talent required to make it here.

You've seen him play what, 4 or 5 times, and you want to sell him? He's frickin' 18 man. He has so much to learn and so much potential to grow.

I like this guy, he is very nice

I think we should him loan to another team in england maybe. And in 1-2 years get back with more experience thats would be nice.

Can't wait to see him in a few years. He just needs time. You wouldn't get any minutes for the first team if you never had any talent..

Get 10m for him now and a percentage on the next sale? Fuck yes I'd sell. He's not special, get over it.

Sport mentions that 3 Masia youth players are having contracts prepared for renewals that expire June 2010: Thiago, JDS & Gai...They mention that while JDS and Thiago's look to be going ahead smoothly (Some issues with Thiago & Mazinho), Gai's may end up being a problem.

The biggest issue or stumbling block is the desire for first team football...The intimation is that if Gai isn't assured of first team football in 2010, there won't be a need to renew, i.e. go elsewhere....His agent?...Zahavi, same genius that saw Giovanni Dos Santos skip ship, as well
