I think United were interested but then saw how much Real were offering and backed out like a couple of weeks ago, unless the deal is 40mil + Rooney don't see us involved, or maybe Chelsea bided 40mil for Rooney and we've bided 80mil or 60mil +young or nani. I think its PSG they haven't started convincingly, or maybe City after yesterdays embarrassment, would be typical of them.
I don't think it's beyond all realms of possibility that United have bid 80m+ for bale considering the new TV deal and our spending for last few seasons has been around 50m mark..and We can afford to make payment up front which Real cant but it would mean no new midfield signings and no bid for Ronaldo next season.................

I seriously doubt we would bid 80mil even if we get 40mil for Rooney, I think without Gill and Fergie we have become very stingy.

I think Glazers have lot more to lose than gain by being stingy, two seasons outside top 4 would mean united will lose 50% of their value in NYSE

Improvin' Perfection!!
It's Levy who's delaying the deal... He doesn't want the clubs to know he has huge chunk of money when he is bidding for replacements of Bale/or other signings! I mean he would have to pay at least 10 million for each signing if they did!!

Doubt we'd finish below 3rd, until tis team dies out.
Even finishing 3rd will mean less payement from UEFA and less commercial opportunities and without RVP our starting XI is not much better than Liverpool's or Tottenham's starting XI...

You sound very pessimistic, Liverpool and Spurs don't have a back 4 like ours, and De Gea whilst a liability is also a match winner with his saves, plus without RVP we won the league and lost it by goal difference and 2 points the season before.

I'm just trying to make a case that not spending now is a big risk and worse case scenario would be a disaster for Glazers....I think we have decent chance of winning the title but if we can get a couple of good midfielders we can have a good run in the Champions League...and I cant remember the last time De Gea had a bad game so, I wouldn't really call him a liability.....

I love how he has surpassed Joe Hart after all the criticism he hot while people drooled over Hart.

Whatever value you produce is consumed by far less consumers compared to football fans who watch the match......If people paid to watch Engineers make their design on live television we'd be talking about how new engineering firm is willing to pay 100m to get gaudi to join them........

Watching something doesn't make it valuable. Money was invented for one purpose only: convenient REPRESENTATION of value, not value itself. Any bill is worth few cents, that's how much it costs to produce one bill, but that bill should represent value, true value. You can play better than Messi and Iniesta together you're not producing new value. Marketing is just a bubble....that is why we have current situation: entire world owns much more than entire world is valued. That's baloon economic.

The club is very happy with it , it's a lot more publicity for Bale ... Marca reporting that we took the TV rights for the Charity match vs Depor on Thursday which will probably witness his first debut and we are waiting to sell the rights after we finish the signing
basic marketing rule : there is no bad publicity

basic football rule: if your built up to be something greater then you actually are you will be ripped apart by the same angels that built you.

seriously its stupid. success leads to marketing. marketing cannot sustain marketing alone. bale is not worth half that 94m or whatever ridiculous some they want to pay for him. he can only fail with a price like that.
there are all sorts of compatibility issues with putting bale and Ronaldo in the same team. it will be much like when they tried to force beckham into the squad. both are players that demand a lot of time on the ball and take many shots, but with Ronaldo being el supremo and considering Ronaldo takes on average 8 shots a game (by far the most in Europe), bale will have significantly less opportunity to utilize one of his most spectacular assets in his long shooting.

neymar can start slow. it will give him to acclimatize, and make him, in perspective, the media underdog (simply as a juxtaposition to bale), and I suspect, neymar will thrive in an environment where the heat of the spotlight won't wilt him down. he can experiment, make mistakes, learn, and grow while bale has all the expectations.

and tehn when neymar is ready for the marketing, his success will be proven and incontrovertible, and the lure for all the marketers in the world, while bale whilts and fades into obscurity (and mental anguish/scarring).

hamzah is right really.

the galatico model is absurd.
