Bale would definitely have given Barca a new dimension, they have been two one paced the past two years and he also would have added height, strength and size to the small squad.

I wholeheartedly agree Brian.

You gotta have multiple set ups readily available so you can adjust to the opponent.

If the other team want to be technical, you can go crude. If they go Crude, you can go technical. Bale would have added a whole new dimension down that left flank.

Only doubt I have, is playing Messi behind a striker and having two Wingers either side. Leaves too few players to sit deep.. but then again you guys do play 3-4-3 sometimes/3-5-1-1

---------Neymar--------------
----------------Messi---------
Bale---------------------Sanchez
-----Iniesta--Busquets--Xavi-----

---Alaba------Benatia----Pique---
------------Ter Stegen-----------

When not in possession, Bale will drop back, as would Busquests. That's 5 players being defensive.

That's what my first 11 look like on FM lol

That would have been amazing.

Why would we ever need our wingers to be tall and big?

How about a bit of height for set pieces? Both defensively and offensively. Maybe next time a long ball is smashed into the box, someone is actually over 5'10 and can header it.

Most of our problems with set pieces are because our players lose their marker, not because they get outjumped. It's not that the other players win headers (every team concedes those, like Ramos scoring against Atletico), but that they just get completely free headers with no one even challenging them.

You guys keep adding Bale to the squad with Neymar included.
The club chose Neymar over Bale, Real Madrid probably would've chosen Neymar too for marketing, Bale was in a way a better fit for Barca, especially since he would've played in his natural position. Gareth play oop at Rma, Neymar plays oop at Barca, would've at rma too though.

Transfer sum discussions are worthless, we will have the right to say Bale suxored for that sum when Neymar starts paying off his sum or equals what Bale has achieved. Transfer sums aren't realistic anyway, I guess Real just pays cause they can, as long as they don't find themselves in deep shit and they're dealing with the debts.

In direct matches:
Barca 2-1 Real = Neymar +1, he scored and assisted / Bale was really shet but he played ST.
Real 3-4 Barca = Tie, Neymar got the penalty and red for Ramos after an offside but was kinda quiet for the 70 minutes he played.
Real 2-1 Barca = Clearly Bale +1, he decided it, Neymar could've taken the game to ET without that late miss.
La Liga overall = Bale 15 goals, 12 assists, 1 Hat-trick, Neymar / Neymar no top 10 La Liga neither for goals or assists, no HT.
CL = Neymar modest presence, Bale was there to help the team - good. IMO they could've missed it by far without him: decisive moment against BvB in QF, imagine if they wouldn't have had a 3-0 in the 1st leg. If Real would've lost against ATM, all he blames would've been on him! 2-1 goal was Di Maria 90% / 10% an goal any offensive player should've made it a goal + Toby totally doing it wrong!

Overall, Bale will score and will prove dangerous whenever given the chance, except for farts like in the final he was there to make a difference, he's dangerous and has qualities, I think the best of him will be when he takes the nr. 1 position neither when Ronaldo leaves or simply cools down, as he's 29 already and injuries are starting to appear too.
As for Neymar, 2 1/2 years younger, first year in Europe, takes some time, Bale already played in PL and had a CL run to the QF back in '11, isn't bothered by the NT games as they're hopeless anyway. Neymar can prove to have the age advantage only if he will stay put for many seasons to come and starts delivering seriously, let's say, by 2015-16 when he will be at Bale's current age.

After one season it's Bale 1-0 Neymar.
Hope that it would be an El Clasico 2011 thing, they score first & fast but by the 4th goal it's 3-1 for Barca.

Yall can't be really counting shit like this but Ima join in on the conversation because that is what football fans do, compare endlessly

Barca's system has been notorious for burning players on the RW and LW, it comes with the job description. That position is incredibly difficult to play and requires a lot of energy, not even Messi could handle it. The average foreign player takes 2 years at Barcelona to adapt to their role, except Alves but the team is built around him and Messi. Even players who have come through the ranks find it difficult to adapt to Barcelona's starting 11, like Cesc. With that said, it is understandable why people are not too excited about Neymar's first season but for me personally, I think it has been nothing short of brilliant. Short of missing open nets (an incredible trait Ronaldo mastered) I cannot believe that people don't see how he is a good fit for Barcelona. Most teams park the bus against Barcelona and that is inherent in your 4 3 3 set up and to open up these buses, you need Ronaldinho's, Henry's, and now Neymar.

Bale on the other hand is too one dimensional for that Role at Barcelona and doesn't have the tactically ability or intelligence to play that role. He would have added a new dimension to the team yes but that theory has been proven to be false due to Barcelona's inability to adapt or accommodate different styles. They just won't change their winning ways for someone new, even if required. Bale needs the length of the pitch to be effective and when he has come up against packed defenses he's struggled. Not to mention that Neymar's tracking back is effective whereas Bale seems lost in defense.

What made Real Madrid win was Bale sure, but what made Bale succeed was Real Madrid's flexible set up. I believe Real Madrid is more flexible than Barcelona in general and that they can adopt either players but I am not so sure if Barcelona would be kind enough to allow Bale to shine in his own way.

 The same way Peter Crouch would add more dimension to Barca.

Barca plays a system that is pushed way up the pitch a majority of the time. Bale has less space to run forward into and more markers to face. You take away whatever advantage Bale gets from his speed and essentially you take away his dribbling and the danger caused by his runs. The only thing left that he'd offer is a wicked longshot, which alone is something I wouldn't even play 35m+ for let alone 60-70m+.

He's not a set piece threat as his header goals are mainly failed parries from GK's. He adds muscle and physicality, but that is a supporting trait and not a primary one. If muscle is what we "need" then Adama could probably wreck Bale in a fight and then wreck his tribe as well.

Bale at Barca would be a caged monkey.

Gareth fail simply cant play football. He kicks the ball in front of him and outrun the opponent. Thats the only thing "spectacular"about him.
