Gerard Deulofeu

If you are a Barca fan you will want him to stay another year. He would just about make your bench which means he wouldn't develop which ultimately would result in you selling him. For the little impact he would have on your season it wouldn't be worth it.

As an Everton fan I hope he doesn't go back. Barca are the best club in the world and I still don't think he's close to that level so I think it's probably most likely he will stay with us long term especially since he looks the kind of player that won't be able to be consistent probably for another few years.

Nonsense, keep dreaming. MSN plays as much as they do not only because they enjoy it and are productive but because there is nothing in the way of rotations that could give them a rest. Deulofeu could

Seems he's getting benched pretty often by Martinez nowadays. Turning into a race traitor I swear.

And Kone has got to be the worst 9 in top flight football. Something about him really pisses me off.

Since he's been dropped we also haven't conceeded a goal. Lennon's work rate is so much better and it will be up to Deulofeu to rise to that challenge when he gets the chance.

So now your defensive woes are due to your right winger not being defensive enough?

Come on now, make up your mind.

Simon.

Did I say that?

What I said was Lennon's workrate is better than Deulofeu's and yes that obviously plays a factor however small to our "defensive woes".

btw - 3 clean sheets in a row.

Yes, you actually did say that by equating Gerard's benching to your defense improving.

I suppose Howard isn't the monkey you thought he was and Stones isn't the error prone knob I've been hearing so much about.

No you just don't understand the difference between something being a factor and something being either the main or only factor. What I said was right. What you said was an extrapolation of what I said that went too far. Bloody hell.

And again in case you haven't noticed Howard and Stones have been dropped for those games, sorry technically they are injured ;)

Please I wouldn't insult you and think I know more about Barca. Don't do the same when it comes to my team.

So is the main reason your defense has improved due to those two being gone, or Deulofeu?

How can you equate Deulofeu's apparently dreadful workrate no longer dragging the team down when your goalkeeper and error prone CB have been dropped?

That'd be like me saying in the games since Neymar has been dropped for Munir our defense has gotten better because Munir has a much higher defensive workrate, ignoring the fact that Mathieu has been dropped as a LB and Vermaelen hasn't played a single game in that same amount of time. Nonsensical.

You can't really take Adversus seriously. Blaming the player who gets you the most assists in the squad for your defensive frailties is in keeping with his logic

What has the amount of assists got to do with defensive frailties and you say you say people shouldn't take me seriously. You don't even understand the difference between attack and defend.

Plus I never blamed him. I said Lennon's work rate is better which it is.

Actually it's because James McCarthy is back

More like you aren't familiar with attacking/defending when citing Deulofeu for defensive issues instead of the actual defenders who changed in Stones & Howard - but hey, it's only consistent with your approach

I didn't mention them originally because this is a Deulofeu thread. Deulofeu's work rate is an issue. I don't think he's lazy I just think he has questionable stamina that will probably improve in time as he adjusts to the pace and energy of the league and the professional game. I also think we should consider moving him to the center where he wouldn't need to have the same responsibility but at the moment he's probably a bit too lightweight. All Deulofeu needs is time. As I've said before I don't think we will see how good he is consistently until he's around 23 or 24.

Scrolling through this page, I was gonna flame you if you didn't mention Maccer. One of the best DMs in the league. Not to mention with Martinez' job closer to being in the bin than ever, it's no wonder you lot are putting extra effort in at the back.

A lot of the goals you lot were conceding/chances were giving away seemed to stem from the left side, Baines isn't what he used to be.

The more I think about it, the more I think both Gerry and Denis Suarez are better off staying away for another season. Not only for their development, but we'll have clarity on if a few guys (Munir, Sandro, Rafinha, and the B players) are going to cut it.
