Gerard Deulofeu

Yep.

At this point I don't care much what happens to Deulofeu. It'll take a miracle for him to have a future at Camp Nou as it is.

I find him entertaining enough to follow his career, but realistically speaking, by the time the MSN era is over we'll have plenty of options besides him for replacements. It'd be nice to have a La Masia grad light up the prem, though.

Can only see it happening if Oscar Garcia becomes first team coach, really. Even then I'm skeptical, because the first team is different than Juvenil A..

He's a fun - if extremely frustrating at times - player to watch indeed, but far too one dimensional for us, as I se it. Halilovic seems a better fit and a better player, honestly, already now.

I really can't see it happening, not in any scenario. I simply don't think he's got what it takes to play here.

His lack of playing time of late gives the impression Martinez is trying to prevent Barcelona from exercising their buyback this summer

Why would he do that? I don't follow Everton or EPL too close so I don't know if this is true but from what I've read Martinez's job could be in danger. Wouldn't be better for him to play Deulofeu if he thinks that Gerard can help Everton win now and not looking into next season when there is a possibliity Martinez even won't be there anymore.

Anyway, I don't think we'll execute his clause or bring Gerard back until Lucho is our coach (and probably never to be fair). Maybe we'll buy him with an intention to sell him for a higher price to other EPL club but I don't think his value (or interest in him) is high enough for that right now, especially with us sucking at selling players.

The way the contract is worded it would make very little sense for Barca to buy him back to sell on for a bigger profit. It would make more sense to do a deal with us for a bit more money but even that isn't likely.

Barca can't afford not to buy back Deulo. His value now is way higher than the buy back fee.

The way the contract is worded Barca can't sell him on for at least a season and when they do Everton take a % of that transfer fee. Basically the amount of profit on the deal it wouldn't make much sense. It might make sense if they thought he was good enough for squad filler but he's not exactly the type of character that will just be happy to sit on the bench. Again probably more trouble than it's worth.

His skill set would be very handy if we relied on a lot of crossing as he imo is the best crosser since Backham. Other than that he's only rarely brilliant with a dribble here and there, a nice through pass. Then again, if i remember correctly, Iniesta only started to be consistent threat at around 24 and began the God-mode at 25-6 under Pep. I think buying him back and seeing what he looks like for that initial full season would be the best decision. Hope he would also be mature enough to stop his hissy fits and behave more humbly.

He should try and become a starter at Everton before we even consider buying him back. There must've been a reason why Lucho sent him away after only a couple of weeks with the first team. Iirc he was presented with Rafinha as full member of the first team. As people been saying from the start, he's obviously talented but you need a lot more than that if you want to succeed at the best clubs.

We'll probably buy him back for 50 million in 4 years.
