Gerard Deulofeu

If he plays well next season 20 mil€ is nothing. They are probably working on new contract with bigger buyout anyway. I'm sure they will learn something from this Neymar saga.

BTW, they should raise Roberto's, Umtiti's buy-outs immediately.. These guys are too cheap. In one year they are bargains and everyone's target.

Deulofeu's current contract expires in 2019. Even if his clause would be 100M and if he'll play good next season with our history of selling players I don't believe we'd be able to get more than 20M for him. If he'll play bad then we'll be happy to even recuperate 12M we paid for him. But if we renew his contract now until let's say 2021 and he won't work out we'll probably just have to loan him out for the rest of his contract while paying part of his wages. That's why I wouldn't renew his contract (give him more money and add more years) now just to raise his clause. I doubt he'll be worth 20M for other teams next year and if he'll be then I'd just take that money and use it to buy a better player. If he'll become an important player for us we can negotiate his contract during the season or next summer.

I know people are scared about our players low release clauses after what happened with Neymar but I'm not. Players that are happy and wants to stay here can have 1€ clause and they won't leave. Players that wants to leave can have 500M release clause and we'll eventually let them leave for 10-20 times less than that because we are not P$G prison to keep players against their will.

About Roberto: I think he will get a new contract over the next few months. But he'll get a renewal because his importance within the team is growing and we want to reward him and not because we'd be affraid to lose him so we'd have to give him a higher clause to prevent that. He had many opportunities to leave but he decided to stay, fight for his chances and use them the best he could even if he had to play 5 or 6 different positions. There is no way he'd leave now that he's not only part of the first team but can also establish himself as our starter and he's also liked and respected between teammates and fans.

It's ok, nobody will pay that for him and if they will, I'd gladly take those 20M.

Really hope he'll prove me wrong but just don't think he'll work for us.

With this market going crazier and crazier, probably even you or me would cost around 10M next season (just put some videos on Youtube and sign with some local club, promising them to split the fee afterwords)...

If I remember correctly, even Sporting set up a release clause for Matthieu at 50M or something when they got him this summer ...

Release does not mean market value. You can set a reasonable amount so the player can leave if a club pays it so the club have enough to buy atleast a replacement. Or you can set it sky high because it's a legal thing to have but you don't want others to buy a player. It all depends on the club and players wishes.

1st game of preseason. 1st game back from an injury. A game where nobody looked good. But sure, we can make judgements from this.

True but this guy is so frustrating because he has talent but no brain whatsoever. I keep hoping he'll turn the corner but it never happens.

I'm surprised we haven't seen anyone comment about preferring to see Arda. Since that's the go-to worst player on the team that X player you dislike is somehow worse than.

All circumstances in mind he had a decent showing that game.
