I've never rated Deulofeu, and this game showcased pretty much all of his strengths and weaknesses. He is new and willing to put in the effort, so tracks back and puts in a shift.
But his offensive game and decision making won't improve further. We've not seen any improvement in all these years, and it would be silly to expect it now. That's just his level, you can't blame him for not trying.
Even in the first few games, people got swayed because he got a couple of assists - those assists were lucky in the sense that the same 'blocks' ricocheted back into his path, etc. He does not have the required skills to get past people 1v1. While Denis Suarez has more skill and better brains, he doesn't have the pace a winger requires to get past the defender using skill, because he will more often than not get caught.
If this was a video game, we'd make a pretty handy player combining Suarez and Deulofeu
