Gerard Deulofeu

Sumlit

San Claudio Bravo
Continues to show the exact same thing; willingness but limited intelligence and ineffective play. This kind of play hurts the team minimally vs lower tier opponents, but is suicidal vs better ones.

Hes supposed to be a sub, and i think he does it well. Are there better players out there? Of course.

But the majority of those players wouldnt come here to warm the bench.

He actually performed pretty decently. Everything negative about his play can be summed up to poor decision making in the final third.

I've never rated Deulofeu, and this game showcased pretty much all of his strengths and weaknesses. He is new and willing to put in the effort, so tracks back and puts in a shift.

But his offensive game and decision making won't improve further. We've not seen any improvement in all these years, and it would be silly to expect it now. That's just his level, you can't blame him for not trying.

Even in the first few games, people got swayed because he got a couple of assists - those assists were lucky in the sense that the same 'blocks' ricocheted back into his path, etc. He does not have the required skills to get past people 1v1. While Denis Suarez has more skill and better brains, he doesn't have the pace a winger requires to get past the defender using skill, because he will more often than not get caught.

If this was a video game, we'd make a pretty handy player combining Suarez and Deulofeu :)

He can play a lot better. And he will. He´s too nervous and anxious. Terrible decision making. Calm down Gerard.

Gerard is far better dribbler and goal scorer than he showed yesterday. As many people said he is nervous right now.
He had the opportunity to shoot many times and he just passed the ball when shooting was actually the right decision, he is simply affraid of the "selfish" label he has right now.
So far I actually like what he brings on the table as true winger who is putting a lot of effort and open the game for us, once he get more comfortable with the decision making things will be much better for him

He is just a chance wasting machine. He wasted more than half of the chances alone yesterday.
Even Vidal was better than him. Alena should be given a chance instead of this useless player.
The two Gerards in the team are performing on the same low level at the moment.

Denis was like him last season, too much nervous to do anything and look at Denis now every time he gets the ball he looking forward to doing something. I think he has enough talent to be a dangerous winger but he lacks confidence right now as other people mentioned he had some chances to shoot but he didn't whereas in Milan he would.

I liked his game yesterday. Was he perfect, of course not, showed less inteligence on the ball, had bad passes. But his workrate, willingness is a breath of fresh air. Give him time, he probably will get over his confidence issue and then we'll see a very good of the bench player. Yes he is a bench player and thats it, he's filling up dembele's void now.
