He looked a tad nervous in this game when he first came on. He lost possession cheaply a few times and one time i saw him 1v1 with a defender and he resorted to his old "tap the ball 3 yards ahead" strategy which ultimately ended up failing. However later he used his head more and showed good patience. He had that lobbed effort which came pretty close and that one run past like 4-5 defenders which was amazing. Too bad he didn't get his pass through to Villa though or it could have made for a memorable goal. After he scores his first few goals and gets confidence with the first team he'll get comfortable enough to strut his amazing talent which we have seen him display with the b team. He is confident and ambitious but i do have to imagine how nervous someone can get when they are trying to make a big impact in one of their first games on the senior team.
Very astute take...I liked him tracking back which is something I like seeing more from him along with minimizing his attitude issues...That 3 meter tap strategy was coupled with a mild stare at the linesman believing he deserved a foul...In the Segunda, he would've gotten that call but rarely in first team footy - although, to be fair, the defender did not play the ball at all
I think he's doing fine over all and I'm happy that he grew into the game in his 20-25 minutes of playing time...By the end, you could see his comfort level was the best he's displayed with the first team, to date...He's still 18 and it's almost a mantra from the club, the coaches & players when it comes to Deulofeu - they know the talent is there but want to see harder work, focus and less attitude...So clearly, it's been an issue as some of us have pointed out...He'll get lots of minutes in preseason in 2013 and if he shines there then I imagine we'll see him get more substitutions in '13-'14 with the first team...I think 2014 at 20 years of age will be his promotion to the first team unless depth becomes an issue sooner
