Pique is 100% better than Araujo, idk why people have to go extreme to hate on the older players in our squad when if you look at the games at least & all the objective Numbers tells us pique was our best defender.
Will he be that next season or two years from now, unlikely, but doesn't change the fact that as of now he is.

No he isnt and those number are not as objective as would like to think.
On two of the games Pique missed and Barca conceded five neither he or Araujo were at CB but that stats would make ouft conceded more as Pique not there.

Stats are objective and not at all misleading as it's an average
For evrry game like that there's Araujo and Garcia against the 20th placed team to even it out

The simple matter is we concede half ad matter goals with pique playing.
Objectively speaking he is by far our BEST defender

Pique is better than Araujo, and I dislike Pique. The reality is the CB area is a disaster at the club. Players like Lenglet, Umtiti, Mingueza, and even Garcia are error-making machines.
The only way this team is conceding few goals next season is by using possession for defensive purposes. Basically take very low risks on the ball, be very safe with it, which would lead to few chances conceded due to low risk in passing.
Which is how Xavi managed to improve our defensive record by a lot since he came.

No it doesnt as Barca conceding goals when both Pique and Araujo are both missing from CB is not some huge credit for just Pique.

Pique isn't better than Araujo for the sheer fact ge is 35 years old who is chronically injured with zero chance to heal.
Whatever you thought of his performances that last season, it us simply in the past, a was rather than is.
Next season is likely a Puyol's 13/14 type of year. Pique era is already over and it is a question whether we move on with Christensen or a new CB.
In any case, currently Araujo is hands down the best CB ee have

Pique is an important player for our defence. We look better with him because he helps us organise and players like Araujo who have poor positioning benefit from it. But as Khaled said, his era is over and he's unlikely to return as a starter. Someone like Koulibaly would do wonders for us.

And it is because of combination of "chronically injured" and being 35.
There aren't many cases of athletes who can return after chronic injury at such age.
