Gerard Piqué

Pique is probably the 9th or 10th best player in Pep's Barca team. He got majorly lucky in his career. Almost like winning the football lottery.

Yeah, Alex Ferguson, Pep and Del Bosque are some bums who didn't know better.

Pique won it all at club and NT level. All this by being an important starter for those sides.

These days every veteran that hasn't left the club yet is labelled a bum and a lucky passenger in his career.

Yeah, he was a good player. But how many players get to play next to Daniel Alves, Xavi and Iniesta very close to them. Guy actually played with two of the best midfielders and possibly the best RB of all time. Puyol as the defense general too. And Pep as manager.

Lucky as hell. Imagine getting this chance as a United bench player.

Let's not forget that this guy was in his supposed prime in 2014 World Cup. Both him and Ramos. Shat the bed and got bounced from the groups. Goes to show you how big were likes of Xavi and Puyol in those winning Spain teams.

You're just moving goalposts to suit the narative. Was Ramos a bum for folding in the 2014 WC?

The fact that he didn't win all WCs he played in doesn't mean he doesn't deserve recognition for what he did win.

He was no Victor Valdes, who is really an example of lucky player.

Going to bit far to desvdiy him as just a good player.

I know we want to move on from certain players but the disrespect & hate they get to white wash there greatness is going over the top.

Pique was a TOP TOP WC defender for many many years for us.

I think pique is more likey than most to leave money on the table when the time comes for him to go, he's a pretty good business man all things considered.

Contrary to yesterday's reports. If Pique is 100%, he will be playing.

That is the news today. And the precedent has been with how Xavi used Dani Alves.

Let's put it this way. If there are just 2 Liverpool players from today you'd have as starting for Pep's Barca, those would be Van Dijk instead of Pique and Alisson instead of Valdes.

He was a good player, but he was never a leader. That was Puyol, and later Mascherano.

On the previous page some journalist said he was warned by both Pep and Lucho. Lucho even benched him at some points. There were rumors back in 2012 that Pep wanted to sell him.

All this van dick and his 1 league title 1 CL is getting too much, the hype is going over the top.

Great defender, but pique at is best their isn't that much between the two.

All those all time great teams pique played on, was great because he was apart of them not inspite of him.

Mascherano wasn't a better CB than Pique, if we compare both in their prime.

Puyol and VVD are closer in style to one another. But Pique was the better ball playing CB than both. So it's not like he didn't have quality. Also a pretty good defender. Not on VVD level, but certainly not a bum.

Not really IMO. He did his part but wasn't a standout in that Pep team. That's the correct way to put it. He didn't downgrade the team, but Valdes and him were probably most replaceable players.
