Gerardo "Tata" Martino

The lineups will be announced with Cesc in it which will result in bucketloads of abuse directed at him before the match. But we'll go through, Cesc will probably play well after all the jinxes he has received from me and people will go: "BIG GAME MANAGER!!! :worthy:"

If everything is on the players why have a manager at all and pay him millions? A manager has to take responsibility for his team

1. Yeah wait until 75th minute to sub on shitty Alexis for godly Cesc. What a weak bench
2. Watch him play Cesc again vs Atletico even after what happened last time. He is Tito 2.0. Same "big names" lineup every game. My grandmother could do better tactics
3. A coach is responsible for his players intensity. If he has guts (which he doesnt) he will clamp down on players taking it easy and play the hungrier players. Every big name has a assured spot in our team. Till their spot is threatened nothing will change
4. Everybody and their grandmother is fed up with Alves crosses. Yeah he doesnt ask Alves to cross but its his job to stop asking him to do that. But i suspect he is too timid to ask the big name player(Alves) to change his play.

You may not want to admit these things, but they are most probably right. If Mourinho hadnt created a permanent enmity between us i would have liked him to manage us. He would have the balls to deal with the big names and their big egos at our club

1. A winger for Cesc (or viceversa) is probably the only decent sub we have... And as I said before, I would like earlier subs too, but there aren't many real options...
2. I'm also against starting Cesc, but yet again, our only option is playing a winger instead of him... I would like that against Atlético very much, but could you please ask your grandmother to tell him what else he could do? Especially since playing Cesc has worked in big matches so far, with the exception being the last CL match... Your problem seems to be with directly with playing Cesc, because you conveniently eluded the fact that Iniesta and Pedro have seen their fair share of bench time and that the rotations in the first half of the season were a hot topic in the press, as they kept pressuring him into playing the "players that gave us everything"...
3. Their spots are not threatened because we have a poor bench, or is Roberto going to bench Xavi? Tello bench Neymar? Song bench Busi? Montoya bench Alves? Bartra bench Piqué? I'm all for dealing with big egos, but you are not going to get anywhere if the players to take the place of your stars won't get you three points every single match...
4. Alves is a mess, hahaha... But to say it's Tata's fault is a stretch, sure he has some responsibility, but in the end Alves is asked to finish attacking plays, it's just that he's terrible at it, he should be asked to cross better not to stop crossing... Alves is one of the main culprits of big ego, but having Montoya as his "replacement" surely doesn't help...

As you see, I'm not even denying what you say, I'm just saying he's also victim to the current circumstances of the club... We have a weak squad aside from the 12 players who play regularly and usually one or more of them is injured, I think we can all agree on that one... On top of that he's asked to win every single game, so in the final third of the season his best bet is to play the best players on paper, something that also irks me to no end, but put yourself in his shoes; the guy is always in a lose-lose situation, if we play with the stars and win it's because of the players, if we rotate and we win it's because poor opposition, if we play the top names and we lose it's bad tactics and if we rotate and we lose then all hell breaks loose... I don't think any other manager would have done significantly better than Tata, despite his obvious mistakes and apparent lack of authority in the dressing room, as well as in the club as a whole.

And you have to pay attention to what happens when Mourinho deals with big egos... He has destroyed the morale of every single team he has tried to get in line, from Chelsea to Inter to Madrid, even after successful seasons he has managed to completely break teams just by "having balls"... Mourinho is an egomaniac with attitudes immensely worse than our sacred cows, he's the biggest ego a dressing room can have, so asking a guy like him to take control of our team is the same as committing suicide...

I see there's a lot of the usual talk with starting Cesc or benching him. Didn't we not play our fluid 4-3-3 against parked buses in the past....what was the outcome ?

Several clasicos he has done well. Also against other teams most recently city, but whatever.

He is much better than ozil.

Dude got to say you are objective with all players except Cesc. You have a soft spot for Cesky?

Possibly, but still, saying that "cesc never managed anything in a big match, never" is wrong. Unless scoring is nothing, and Clasico isn't a big match. And scoring our only goal in a draw against RM is apparently nothing.

Cesc is OK. The only problem I have with him is that he is a lot slower now than he ever was at Arsenal. And the difference is drastic. He moves like he is 36, not 26. Other than that, he is fine.
