Gerardo "Tata" Martino

Look at the bugdet Atletico has and players they have and then complain how Tata doesn't have enough manpower.

And they've beaten us without 2 of their best players tonight.

Not to mention we haven't won a single game against Atlético this season, out of 5  embarrassing

Oh come on. There are many coaches who would have jumped at the opportunity, any time. There are many who would probably buy themselves out of their contract just to coach here. The timing was not the problem, the board is. Tata is not that bad, though. He just doesn't have the balls to do what it takes.

And honestly, I think what this teams needs more than anything is a big ballsy kick in the ass by an authoritative figure. Someone of Cruyff's stature.

Agree. Tata's an ok coach and has his strong points, but he's not what we need. He lacks a lot of things we really need, like balls, motivational skills, etc.

Don't get me wrong, there's no doubt that Martino is a good coach. But he isn't a great one, and his coaching style is certainly not what we are needing at the moment.

Stric got it spot on. Someone with the reputation and presence of Cruyff would kickstart things. In fact, Cruyff as president would probably be an utter Godsend at this moment in time.

Tata is good but we need the best. That's how we can become the best team again. And there aren't too many"best" managers out there.

The thing is Tata DID try to change things... During the first half of the season he introduced more direct play and variations when Messi was injured, but the media cried murder because that was not "our style", they crucified him for losing possession even if we won 4-0, they crucified him for not playing Iniesta, then for not playing Cesc, then for rotating, and on and on... So in the end he gave up to the press demands and became the continuation of Tito... Every single thing he tried was wrong in the media's eyes...

I wish he set his foot but he didn't feel with enough authority to do it... And on top of that, he gets a board that is competing for a world record of incompetence, an unbalanced squad of delusional players who are still living in the past (mainly Xavi and Alves)...

He's not without his mistakes, but the team was bleeding from a couple seasons ago, so he got an agonizing team that finally died in his hands...

You know what, you're right. I'm not sure if it's entirely as black and white as you say - Tata consciously giving in, or just a string of things happening simultaneously, but the team really looked much better when Tata was still fresh in charge.

Something needs to reboot this team. The team needs a change of direction and a new authoritative figure, but the fans and the press probably need the team to start losing and showing serious cracks before they realize that someone new needs to come and start doing things differently.

The only adequate replacements for me are Klopp and Simeone and both are impossible..
