It was still bad, because even though they had good players and an incredible collective unit, Atletico simpy couldnt compare to the players Real and Barcelona had. Real and Barcelona was expected to win.

This definitely applies for Real but almost all the Barca players in that team had won everything there was to find more than once and were running on fumes. Talent was there but the will to work and organize is gone for most of these players in this environment.

Plus Barca was without CBs and proper gk.

When it came down to it Athleti back line and gk were of higher quality at the time and also the midfield

Long time fan, I knew a win would involve some luck on our part

He said he'd do almost everything differently if he could manage Barca again and that he learned a lot form it.

Can't say I respect him more for those words. Only proved he was way in over his head and not prepared for managing Barca.

Tata was a good manager, it just didn't work out but it was not a disaster at all. We were a wrongly disallowed goal away from winning la liga, a inch away from taking the cup to extra time and only lost by one goal to Atletico in Europe, and that was without Valdes in goal for the last 3 months. I think he would have done a good job had he stayed, especially with the chance to bring in his own players.

And all this with Neymar as his only signed player (didn't even get to choose him). Plus Puyol as his *new* CB signing

Tata got the best out of Sanchez and the best anyone got out of Pedro since Pep. No fault on the man, he had no signings of his own while Xavi was making the midfield formations ;)

His time at Barca put him on the global map, but I also somehow feel he's underrated now as a coach because of his season here.

I think that it is now clearer that Barca only wanted him as a temporary fill-in until they get Lucho or whoever.

I guess he regrets not signing a cb, and also giving up on la liga too soon. But the lack of is sporting project is still hurting the club.

Oh yeah, the six games in which he failed to beat Atletico showed his tactical acumen

He also had quite good record against Real, which IMO is more important. He also managed to improve the defense (2nd in the league after Atletico) without significant reinforcements. I think the problem was that the team quit on him after winter and that he used Neymar too close to sideline.

He may be blaming it all on himself but I definitely am not.He had a fantastic first half.Somehow the whole team collapsed in the second half with cesc playing like shit, messi not running etc etc.He outsmarted both pelligrini and ancelloti in the first half. Some of his notable mistakes would be playing cesc as false 9 repeatedly and playing a double pivot against sociedad away. But as I said the problem was bigger than tata martino.
