Gerardo "Tata" Martino

Behrox

Vice President of FC Barcelona
He also had to contend with the biggest shitstorm since Gaspart's era and had to play the trophy quarter of the season without a first choice keeper and (surprisingly) inform (at the time) Pique. Give Tata the current team and he'll be able to do 1000x better than Lucho. Also did I mention the lack of a pre season?

¡Gr?*cies Xavi!
I'm grateful that he got us back to winning big matches again. At times though, he was really unlucky during his tenure here. Messi's goal against Atletico in the last game in the league being cancelled, Neymar hitting the post against Real Madrid in the CDR final, etc. Last season could've ended so differently.

Martino last season had no proper pre-season, no proper second CB after Pique, no transfers, a Neymar who was yet to be integrated, Messi who spent a lot of the season injured and no real backing from the board or the fans whatsoever.

Still he was much better than Enrique tactically and in big matches, while also playing much more entertaining football with a weaker squad.

Even if this is true,it still doesn't make him gr8 manager

Are you sure you remember last season?

Yes I do. Before the squad turned against him (or Xavi asked him to play possession play without intention again) our football was great. Convincingly won the Clasico, matched a great Atletico side over two legs. Things I doubt would happen nowadays.

Also we scored much more goals. Only in 1 of 7 home matches this season did we score more than 1 goal in the first half. They are simply boring most of the time because we look so clueless until the second half.

At least we played as a team and didn't overrely on our forwards to win the game singlehandedly. He might not be a world class manager, but certainly better than people make him out to be.

And you won't deny our squad was weaker last season?

True. Up until that one moment, Tata was doing a fine job. It's obvious that at a particular point something went wrong, it wasn't just a slump out of form.

The game against Rayo in which they had more possession showed that he didn't fully appreciate the footballing culture

I never seen why people hated Tata... He made the most out of the team given to him and if we had just gotten lucky and Valdes didn't get injured we 100% would have won the League and Copa. Not sure about Champion League but we would have gotten to semi-finals atleast.
He isn't given enough credit imo, once the second half of the season started he saw how corrupt the board was and if he were a more, i wouldn't say, courageous person, he would have called the board out for not backing him and his plans. He should have stayed another season or at least been given the resources necessary to put his plan into action

They thrashed them 4-0, 4 fucking 0 and the whole so called pro-Barca *fans* and dumbshit catalan media was on his ass. What sort of a footballing culture are you talking about we had 49% possession because Tata tried counter attacking against a Rayo side who finished with the 2nd highest possession in the league.

Tata was unlucky. The off the pitch problems would have derailed virtually any manager including Pep. We had too many distractions off the field and the players never bought into his style.

I also have a feeling he was overwhelmed by the magnitude of the job. If he had previous experience at a big European club he would have done a lot better. If he had the squad Lucho has he would have done much better. Valdes injury and Pinto being shit really didn't help at all.

Some things are just not meant to be..............................

Enrique is as clueless as the managers directing this club. You can easily tell he's an inferior coach lucky to be in charge of a world class roster. While we've been winning lately, it is simply down to Messi or the luck we had such as Busquets's goal. Don't think we're winning the Liga, lucky if we draw a weaker opponent and make it to the querter finals. We might have a chance at getting to the CDR final.
