Gini Wijnaldum

More or less, although closer to 40m since the top tax rate in Catalunya is 49%.

Yh this. It's 42-44 Gross what Griezmann is supposedly earning. I think in most European countries that the tax rate is around the 50 percent mark once you earn that type of money.

He?s on just over 5m currently and can?t see him staying at his Liverpool level for the full 3 years. Also that?s more of an indication that our previous clown board have overpaid players than anything.

Fair points and you're right, Roberto being on 10m doesn't mean everyone better should necessarily be on more/similar. I just worry we get an injury or two in midfield and we're left with players that don't quite fit together or just aren't good enough. Seems like Wijnaldum has that advantage of being able to cover multiple midfield positions whilst being excellent in at least 1 of those positions.

If he was starter and could keep his level up then it’s sort of justifiable. Don’t wanna compare to our players because they are on too much but Pjanic is warming the bench for 7.5m currently. Shambles.

No need to worry, just the 4 more years to go on his contract :bartomeu:

The 5m at Liverpool is gross not net and he has been underpaid by them going on performance and importance to team so wouldnt be using that as any yard stick for performances there.

If it is 8m gross then that is fine for Wijnaldum to be done by time 33 and nowhere near the figures reported previously.

8m would be a fantastic wage for Wijnaldum (club's perspective) given all those generous Barto contracts on Dembele, Umtiti, veterans Busi and Pique (12-15m p/a).

So it is. Thought it was net. Is he wanting 8m gross or net then?

The point is to not give out inflated contracts to mediocre and/or old players, not to keep doing it because we've done so before.

I know. But you have to look at the average salary of Barca first team players which is around 6-9m. Pjanic is around 8m I think.

Yeah, Koeman will judge him based on one game. Liverpool are shambles atm. and it's hard to draw any conclusions.

He does a job but it's nothing spectacular. Said it before but his best form in England was when he was an attacking midfielder at Newcastle. His other main highlight was of course in that unfortunate night at Anfield...

The crazy thing is a lot of the time I kept seeing words like physicality as to why we needed him.

He is very passive when it comes to physical duels, loses more than he wins, barely makes more than a successful tackle a game.

His strongest trait, which is keeping the ball under pressure - is something that all current Barcelona midfielders can do.

He's a good player but doesn't improve us in any way.
