Gonzalo Higuain

Nice editorial by the mad Madridista and head of AS Tomas Roncero today:

I try to overcome with the utmost integrity possible the trauma suffered by the entire Real Madrid after lyon game Wednesday. But it seems suicidal to lose control of the situation to the point of endangering one of the greatest legacies and assets of the club like Higuain.
Nobody will argue that the Pipita had an unfortunate night in front of the French team and that in a couple of times he could have been more generous with Cristiano. But it is childish to think or imagine that the kid did it on purpose and with the desire to enhance his statistic at the expense of a traumatic European elimination.

Higuain has won the Bernabeu not only with his goals (many of them were critical) but also with his commitment in the field, his own enthusiasm for the albiceleste 9 and his ability to generate scoring chances in the middle of the desert. The Pipita has 20 goals (counting the two with Argentina) and is fighting for the top scorer with the jet set in this league: Messi, Villa and Christiano himself. When he arrived in 2007 it was normal that his contract would be low because he was not yet known to anyone, and the return on the pitch was unknown. But after more than 50 goals and several exploits the club should tie him up and make him a contract in line with his quality. Higuain should be the future of Madrid.

Agree fully with the mad man

didn't higuain pass because of his rivalry with ronaldo?or did he really think that he had a better opportunity?

He will be always considered as a great player, but when he comes on a big screen (CL) he will always fail. He is helpless against top deffenders.

He is very young .. what he is doing is great , it's not like he is 28/29 and didn't score in Europe yet ;)

What has been seen in your mind cannot be unseen!! lol

Not exactly sure what you mean but assuming that you disagree, Pedro doesn't really offer anything on the pitch besides the occasional big goal. The team in general never really performs impressively upfront when he's on the pitch. He rarely takes on defenders, loses the ball a lot and his passing is well...awful. Higuain has a similar vision for goal but can do everything else I mentioned. Twice the player.

The worst possible thing Real Madrid could do is sell that player. If they do sell him because of those two, not three, mistakes he made in CL I'll be laughing all week.

Home tie against Inter!? Have you even watched that!? I'm against deciding on a player by looking at just 1 or 2 matches but that performance was incredible... He showed what he's capable of against the best full back in the world!! He did everything that can be asked from a winger in 4-3-3 that day. His passing is awful!? Really!? His link up play to score the only goal against Shakhtar was too good to look over! I'm not saying he's the best... I'm only saying he's the potential to offer a lot, so we owe him some more time before writing him off

Besides it looks too childish to ridicule Pep's brought up players who are even proving week in week out!! Do that to Dima or Ibra(only for the past few matches!) it is acceptable but, with Pedro!? Really!?

My comment was only toward the visual I had after reading your comment. Sucking Pedro's teets. It was rather explicit in my mind. Not everyone can follow my line of humor. Sorry.

I don't disagree with your assessment. Real Madrid would have to be out of their gourds to sell Higuain. Right now I think they are desperate to pin their loss on someone...anyone.

As far as Pedro is concerned, I don't like to criticize, especially when a player is trying. He's scored when no one else has and in important matches. He's achieved a lot for Barca and himself this season. Is there room for improvement? Of course, I wont deny it. It seems a theme for Barca this year. I leave the breakdown of individual's performances to those who know more about the sport. I'm ignorant on the tactical/technical front more than most posters here. It's a debate I'll always lose. I just support the team...no matter what. :peace:

HAHA
English commentators are useless, all they have are player and club statistics infront of them, they have very little footballing knowledge and give weird analogy's. The co commentators who are usually ex players or managers have expertise and they perform the player/match analysis.

Valdano came out and defended Higuain and slammed the Spanish press for looking for an escape goat .
" a player make one mistake and suddenly all the 3 years of service is forgotten " " Higuain contract will be renewed we have time and we want to keep him till he retire in Real Madrid "
