I think the constant remarks about how the squad wasn't good enough and how we didn't have enough money for signings did seep down into the team's mentality and we played very scared, conservative ball with a tendency to fall apart against good teams.

In reality none of it was true. The squad is as good as any top European squad and there is plenty of talent there to work with.
What a few months of experience do to a team.

At least from my perspective, only speaking for myself, the main reason Xavi annoyed me so much is the constant doomerism and gaslighting. I don't even think he believed it himself, it was his attempt to fuel his ego and his saviour complex as if we should be grateful and begging for his management. (Remember the fake resignation?)

If he conducted himself positively and took more accountability for some issues we had during his tenure people would speak about him far more favourably. But he chose to paint himself as a victim of a bad squad and bad resources.
Agree there, he got toxic in the end. But Raphina, Cubarsi, Yamal and so on? He played a massive part for them. Was the first to unlock Raphina on the left for example. Him now is just the continuation we have seen in the PSG game already.

Xavi was their van Gaal basically. Just with a worse attitude and ability.

Good ol' Louis is ironically his coaching idol as well along with Aragones.

No need to bash Xavi here, Flick himself rejected this club during that turmoil times, it isn't like we had the option to get Flick back then and choose Xavi.

Xavi stabilised the club and got us Liga, we needed to take another step forward and hopefully the work of Flick continues successfully, because by all means it looks that right now we took big steps in the right direction.

That distance covered stat is key.

Something that we were lacking for years.

Dare I say, this looks like Klopp's Liverpool stats sheet on our side.

We are going to have to get that possession and pass stats up though. Ie, more control.

This game was an incredible night, a turning point. But those Raphinha master finishes are not going to be regular.

But to go out and outwork Bayern is a huge achievement by Flick.
