He demands €16m + many bonuses, so he'll be around 20m/y.
If even Bayern doesn't want to pay him what he demands and rather lose him for free, so we shouldn't even look in his direction.
Annual cost of 20m would equal signing a 50m player on 5 year contract with 10m wages. Is he that kind of player? Dont think so imo.

It would be even worse than signing this 50m fee player, because it would be much more difficult to get rid of him with a 20m/y contract. Barca has enough examples in the recent past how difficult it is to get rid of players with a big contract living in Barcelona.

And another thing is, how long would players agree to their max. 12m contracts, if Laporta starts to give out 16-20m to players like Davies? We would drown pretty fast in high wages, once Laporta opens the pandora box. So far, they can't demand a high wage, because Laporta set himself a limit, that he's only willing to cross for worldclass players like Lewy or Gundogan. Davies is not in their league.

There's no Buyern player that is needed, they're all meh, as we've seen. Blundersliga farmers or grandpas.
Kane is great, the rest? Can't do it in big games.

Carreras from Benfica looks very promising, but doubt we'll get him.

Absolutely. How is this even debatable :ROFLMAO:

But the main problem is that our own players will look at it and demand similar numbers.
If even Bayern doesn't want to pay him what he demands and rather lose him for free, so we shouldn't even look in his direction. If Madrid wants to pay him that, they have my blessing.

Bayern has our own product Adam Aznou, they believe he can be the next Davies. This makes it easier for them.

Get Grimaldo back.

God no.

I don't get this Grimaldo obsession from our fan base. He is an old wingback who only flourished in systems perfect for him, that we won't use.

Can't go out and spend 20m year on Davies and then expect Araujo to renew for less than 10m or better yet, Frenkie to accept a sale rather than wind his contract down.

Thing is Laporta supported Xavi 100% and we just deloaded Gundagons 20m wage.

So he will support Flick the same way, and especially if he is successful this season. Because he is hitting the criteria of winning AND winning with style.

That's always the connection most don't understand when saying a bigger salary here and there doesn't kill us. It always depends on who is getting this salary. If it's a worldclass athlete and Fifa player of the year Lewandowski, then an Araujo, Pedri, Lamine and others can't say they want the same salary without getting at least near his achievements.
If it's some tiktok Davies, then half the team will demand his salary during the next extension talks and then you have the club at 700m+ wage again in no time. Laporta introduced his limit not for fun, he's only willing to cross for an absolute worldclass player.

Davies being 20M salary isn't going to be what he get though, it is his demands + what people expects in add-ons.

It could be significantly less than that, only RM or desperate Manu will give him more than 12M. 15M will be his best case.

PS He is starting to get underrated btw. He is still a top 5 players in his position and a sure upgrade over Balde.

With that said, I don't think we need him as we have other priorities. I am not Balde biggest fan, but I am still not ready to aim for a starting LB over him

As Khaled says, 20m is just a number put out there by his team most likely.

He would never find this in Europe, 12m-15m is a very good estimation for his best case scenario.

Also correct to say he is being underrated. A lot of people calling him average, but the reality is the fullback/wingback position is very limited in global football, and there aren't many top RB/LBs out there full stop let alone top ones for either side alone. The position(s) are sparse at the moment.

He is still a top player at his position and has better athleticism than Balde whilst being slightly better all around.
With that said, given that signing him would likely cost a decent amount, and Balde is still a very solid player with great room for improvement being only 21, we shouldn't consider it at least until we fix our pending problems in other positions like ST, (DM?), and possibly GK as its been time to sign competition for Ter Stegen for a long while now, who is going to be coming off a major injury.

What also surprised me is how he managed to bridge the language barrier so easily and forge great relationship with entire team. Which, to be honest, was still reeling from losing Xavi.
He's just nice to them, I think that's basically it.

A lot was made about Xavi's relationship with the players but the reality is that he was blaming them for the losses after most games and you could see him shouting abuse at the players from the sidelines every so often.

In particular there have been a lot of suggestions either from media reports or even from players themselves that Xavi was quite harsh and cold towards the players, whereas Flick is always described as being approachable and positive.

Pablo Torre said under Xavi's reign that Xavi barely speaks to the players, and its Oscar Hernandez doing all the talking. Whereas it seems Flick speaks directly with the players a lot, even the ones that don't play very much.

With that said, we have to see how the team reacts in tougher times and more difficult runs of form to truly determine how strong the spirit of the dressing room is.

Well according to Capology (yeah I know) he is on 11.25m gross in Germany right now.

So 20m demands with a 15m+ agreed wage will possibly be their targets.

If PSG get involved, he may even hit those demands.

One thing for sure, he will be closer to 20 than 10.

He might be right now again - even if he yesterday drove me crazy with his technical mistakes. Since Alaba left who told him what to do he was not much more than average.

His best attribute is his speed - but he makes a lot technical mistakes and his positioning is not the best (even if that does not matter if you are that fast).

Aznou still needs to learn a lot - great offensively and in dribbling - not that great defensively.

Really bad today. These tricky away games in the league have to be treated with more priority over bums in CL.

Team was tired and lacked intensity. We don't know how to play when those key elements are gone.

The ability to control a game on lower tempo is almost completely gone.

Need to come back from this fast because this is not Bundesliga where teams can't defend for shit. Celta is gonna be hard also.
