Winning sure, but no one gives a fuk if you get to the finals or semis. You either win or you lose. This isn't NBA or NFL where "conference champion" banner is hung up.

So, according to you,
Barcelona, who has been the clown of Europe, since at least 2017,
with the big defeats, humiliations and eliminations to Juventus, PSG, Roma, Liverpool, Bayern, etc.

if we go to the final this season with dominant Flickball (like the ones you saw against Bayern) and lose out to a better team, let's say Liverpool for the sake of the discussion,
no one would give a fuck?
It is something insignificant?

No, only LaLiga matters. Don't even have to deal with Europa League anymore.

What is he gonna improve if the last 3-4 years he hasn't changed at all as a player. Neither him not gavi have shown anything new since their first games, there has been no progression
Pedri is already an essential player. Even if he can't progress into better player than he is now (which is already one of best midfielder in Europe), it isn't a big deal.

Gavi just returned from major injury.

We weren't the clowns of Europe since 2017. 2019 was a good season, last season we came close to the semis and lost because a stupid player got sent off when we were ahead in the tie by 2 goals and were firmly the better team.

But you are right, if we progress at least to a semifinal, it's a notable result for sure for Hansi Flick's project.

But if Flick loses La Liga this season, next season he has to win it.

Yea no one puts CL finalist in their bio, this isn't a Oscar nomination.

As evident by the amount of caveats that was added to a potential CL final run and loss.

He's be here for two seasons regardless, but let's not turn NOT winning into some kind of great achievement.

A small segment of Barcelona's fan base is slowly trying to turn Barcelona into arsenal.

Thank God big daddy Laporta won't stand for that.

The only W flick can take this year is by doing just that actually winning

Anything is a loss by with enough positive signs to keep him around for 1 more year to try and get across the line.

Sure, losing a CL final is not like winning a big title, but reaching the Champions League final is not something you can do easily. Depends on the draw as well. If you draw Liverpool for example or Bayern, or Real Madrid, and you knock them out, it's notable.

Last season we got a good draw and we were pretty close to make the final.

That's my point, too many what ifs in that run needs to be added for it to be notable.

Of course, I mean Tottenham creeped into a CL final by riding their luck. It depends on the circumstances. Inter made the final by playing Porto, Benfica and Milan on the way to the final. That's a proper Europa League level string of opponents.

Although the current format should minimize the risk of extremely unbalanced halves of the table.

When is the last time Arsenal made a CL final?

If we want to aim for CLs again, we need to start that by making progress in Europe, and that includes targeting the later rounds even if you don't win it.

You don't go from CL group stages to winning it. The typical winners of the CL regularly make the semi finals or finals in seasons where they don't win it, and that is also required in order to show you are progressing your team towards winning the CL in the future.

If Flick made CL final in his first season here, that is a great indication that the team is ready to aim for winning the CL in the next few seasons.

Kane and Eriksen being top players wasn't an accident though.

They would certainly have won some title if their other players weren't memes.

When was the last time Barcelona made the CL final?.

Irrelevant point you started with tbh.

Some teams are happy to get to the dance, others are only happy with winning it.

That's what desperates the fc Barcelona's of the world from the arsenal's of the world.

If getting to the latter rounds of the CL was a indication you will win it soon, atleti would always have at least one. how many do they have? zero.

Because it's irrelevant, only thing that matters is actually winning it.

Arsenal are one of the worst "top teams" in the CL.

Not sure why we'd be compared to them. They're completely irrelevant. For all the yapping about Arsenal the last few years what have they really won? Even this year Liverpool and Chelsea look like in a better position so far.

Yep

Which is why having a "good" coach and playing "good" football isn't enough.

You have to win, end of story.

Too many barca fans over the past few years have forgotten the winning part, in their quest for beautiful football.

In a perfect world you do both, if you can't you have to win.

Playing good football and making the CL KO isn't an achievement as too many here have tried to claim the past few years.

They're the most underwhelming 'big club' going. They think they're a massive club. To be fair they have won a lot of English titles and FA Cups. But they have always been an irrelevance in Europe. Also, their history started with a cash injection which is ironic given their moaning about City.

They never come close to winning the CL and haven't won the PL for 20 years and counting. Yet their fans talk like they're as big as Real Madrid, Barca, Bayern etc.
