He is right we should improve in this segment. Even bench players should know how to keep a lead. That's not equal to tweaking entire system that carried us to immense improvement over last season, like some here suggest.

Don't expect reading comprehension from someone whose IQ is close to 0

Remember he is the guy that started the 'Bumsi COVID CL' line last summer.
I can't remember anyone else in here taking a bigger L than that in the history of the forum

The error was that instead of temporizing the game and settling for the 4-2 or maybe nicking another for 5-2, he subbed key tired players for fresh legs that fecked up our control in midfield. Atletico could have even won the match if it lasted 3-4 minutes more.

He is simply an unbalanced manager. You have to live with his flaws because he also brings many good things.

I don't remember the start of the play, but in 3rd goal it looked like he was late to recover his position, which forced Frenkie on the right, and left the area in front of the box wide open.

3rd goal was a collective defensive fuckup
3 players narrowing in on only 1 opponent leaving a huge gap in the middle

FFS some sense of space....

A football game isn't won by outscoring your opponent?
Not by going guns blazing all the time. Because some times you won't be able to score 5 in order to cover for the 4 you concede. It's not a good tactic in the long run.

I've already said that it might work in KOs.

Flick got it wrong today.

Luckily he has a second leg to make up for it.

You don’t need to tweak the system, but there is little sense to try to play a high line and press up high when you’re leading, with few mins left to play and with two chaotic midfielders in Fermin and Gavi there.

What are you even trying to achieve at that point? Win the ball up high with players that are positionally indisciplined and more prone to actually leave their man and leave tonnes of space behind?

Sometimes you need to adapt to the situation. He has done that the last few games to his credit, BUT the same approach with these subs is just asking for trouble.

They had slowed it down before the 4-3 goal to be fair.

Pedri and FDJ a number of times took ball and slowed it down and could see them motioning to team to be more patient.

Hard to do that with players like Gavi who cant find space to get on ball and can barely do much with it if gets it.

It is not just a matter about total chances, but also state of the game. It matters just as much, that we could've had a 4 goal lead halfway through the 2nd half and completely killed their spirits. Or up been up by 2 at HT, focing theam to chase goals earlier and maybe capitalizing on it. Doubt Atleti gets that last push and burst of energy if they're behind 6-2.
It's 5-2 in big chances at HT and yet scoreboard says 2 -fecking 2.

We heavily outplayed Atletico. Props to Flick. Defense organisation will have to be addressed seriously though. We get exposed from those crosses from the flanks too often.
