If there's a minor criticism of Flick it's the fact that we can't seem to win if we don't play well. I'm only using the Sociedad game as a sample because he rotated heavily in the Osasuna game.
The league is all about grinding results out week in week out. Sometimes it's hard to get up for these types of games. Contrast the Sociedad game with the Bayern game.
I actually see us doing well in the cups as opposed to the league .

Fair point. You aren't gonna hammer teams every week. Sometimes you have to grind out a win while not playing well - every successful team does this.

What I will say is the Robert non-call would have changed the complexion and course of the game, as others have alluded to. But yes, very bad calls will sometimes go against teams.

I wouldn't be too hard on Barca - I know Sociedad were bottom of the home table before this game, but I think that's an anomaly over 6 games or so - in general they're one of better La Liga teams outside the big three, and it's a hard place to go. I was kind of worried about it for Barca even though I thought they'd still get over the line.

Just have to keep going. Like you say it is a brilliant thing to have in your locker - the ability to score and win when being outplayed. Those cunts at the Bernabeu have had it a long time. If Barca can start digging out some results that would help them immensely too as it is unrealistic to expect play dominant, free-flowing football in every game over a packed schedule.

You need quality to grind results or you need to play like Simeone, Xavi.
The german swarming has the tendency to get winded in some scenarios. That's why Real is trashing UCL who is dominated by germanic football after the italians became irelevant.
If you can windout the swarming you are left with tired mediocre players vs quality. That's why the famous reverse in luck.

Barcelona tends to not do that because we usually only have quality in our midgets and amigos and no muscles. Our profile usually can trash only La Liga and Real since they are less quality than us but not fitness monsters.

Think there's some fair points there for sure, about other teams being fitness or physical monsters and that overcoming the talent deficit to the likes of Barca sometimes.

The problem is in the air, and you could see that Cubarsi, who is at 17 also the tallest defender, was the only one who won anything in the air.
Frenkie, Pedri, Casado, Balde, Raphinha didn't win a single aerial. Real also had more clearances and tackles.

We lack a Zubimendi or Rodri type of player, Frenkie just offers nothing. Pedri has never won anything in the air, then you want to add Gavi.

Clearly you couldn't trash this La Liga club, so I don't agree. They just have a smart coach.

Kounde is also way too slow, this RB meme only works against Serbian farmers.

So basically the one trick pony has been found out and Barca fans want to add some of these type of players.

Flick's vision is great so far. He got the team playing the type of football fans want to see. But he needs to add some kind of pragmatism in his gameplan. You can't bet it all on being more intense than the opponent in every single match. Be more possession oriented, keep the ball more if you are not in your sharpest day, slow the game down maybe, defend a bit deeper, there's many ways of adjusting to an off day to still get wins. He is defficient in this area so far. We either smash teams or lose. It's mighty ambitious of him to adopt a "this is the only way we want to play" approach. But it can also be stupid. Some flexibility and adaptability is never a bad thing.

It is not an issue at the moment because the great games are far more frequent than fuck-ups, but it can become a serious problem if in every match where players are tired and not as fast you end up losing valuable points. Because tiredness is only going to get more and more present as games add up.

If we rested everybody against Red Star as if some here would probably do in Flick's position, it is very questionable how the match would end. We struggled even with the team we started in last minutes of the 2nd half and Red Star was for some time an even better team.

That being said he should have, without a doubt, subbed off a few players in the 2nd half. It was 4-1 I think somewhere around 65th minute. It was perfect time to make the subs.

But I don't think Sociedad match was a result of our players being tired. It was simply a day off, a crazy good performance from our opponent with a poor performance overall from Barca along with a huge robbery for one goal that would have turned the momentum in our favour.
I am not so sure if he thinks like this. He thought like this with Bayern and we had matches when e.g. Müller and Lewy were substituted in a Cup match against Hoffenheim with a 4:1 lead in minute 80 that we then luckily won with 4:3 at the end in 19/20. We got shaky whenever we substituted players from the axis especially Müller.

League is the number 1 priority by a long way, we only start thinking about the CL, if we luck our way to the QF.
It's not a priority, especially considering the thin financial situation of the club. Part of why the club went to levers, stupid contracts aside, is crashing out of CL too early too many times.. CL money >>>>> Liga money by far. The coach and team will do everything to make it to semi finals to boost finances.

lol u guys are high

This shit got figured out already

What’s your game plan Barca forum?

Fire on all cylinders with this weak as fuck bench for 70 games a season?

Good luck expecting a 36 year old to lead the line without rest for the entire season, we have no one to rotate him with either so it’s just lol

I’ve already checked out this season and back to being pessimistic, I’ve legitimately seen enough to know we will go trophyless

Back to pessimistic after first legit loss of the season, color me surprised (Monaco and Osasuna both fluke)

No need to panic. Flick made Barca much much better than anyone expected.

Top of the league after leaving a good deal of tough matches behind. CL league campaign well onto direct qualification.

And then there is exciting football for 90% of time.

Said in the summer key for Flick is to "survive" until winter once most tough matches in la Liga are behind us and most injured players come back.

We're on course.

Many tough matches are left in La Liga though. And teams tend to get more tired as the games pile up. I would say the toughest away matches yet were Madrid, Osasuna, and Sociedad. Lost 2 out of 3. Need to beat Bilbao, AM away, Betis. Road is very long.

Even Celta and Mallorca are tough on the road. No reason to panic, but also nothing to really celebrate yet.
