Had plenty of last minute goals under Xavi including El Clasico but ofc you haters forget that.

So this "mentality" is not something Flick instilled, lol.

Pipe down.

You are a prisoner of your Xavi delusion and see everything as hate against him. Never said Barca hasn't won plenty in last minutes under Xavi.
I said it's been a while since we did it.

Regardless if you prefer Xavi or Flick, I don't think it makes much sense for Flick fans to talk shit about a manager that walked the league and won it 10 points ahead of Madrid 4 rounds in advance, especially considering our current position in the league.

It's much better to appreciate the many good things both achieved here, knowing the difficult circumstances they had to deal with.

Practice what you preach.

Last two pages see more people questioning Flick than Xavi. Xavists way too defensive and want to keep debate going when claim not.

Who criticized xavi? Only saw one poster.

I see myself as one of the more positive posters, but that performance left me more worried than elated.

Benfica are terrible this season and have been booed off a few times already at home. They have struggled to create chances and then they meet a team that plays such a ridiculous high line that their struggle is made easy for them.

How can people justify the fact that all the opposition has to do is play the ball into vacant areas behind our high line and they have a chance of getting a 1 on 1 with the goalkeeper? I mean Benfica looked like they could score every time they attacked and when you look at the personnel on display that simply shouldn't be happening.

Pavlidis is a Greek carthorse. It is embarrassing that a player of his level scores a hat trick against us. But he's never had an easier game.

What makes it even more scandalous is that OUR LADS CAN FUCKING DEFEND. These are defenders that almost beat the La Liga defensive record 2 seasons ago.

Yes, everything turned out okay in the end, but you would be lying to yourself that at 3 - 1 there wasn't a part of you that was thinking this could be a 5 or 6 goal humiliation. And you should never have been thinking that against such a poor Benfica side.

We are skating on thin ice.

Good post.

But I think for context aswell, we should look at that PSG vs Man City second half where the weather, likewise, got out of hand and the scoreboard went crazy. Both City goals where done to freak ping-pong deflections in the rain. I'd personally question Flick more for the Sociedad game than Tuesdays.

So yeah, the game was pure entertainment in a game that was the exception than the norm.

EDIT

I'm looking up Benfica results this season as I haven't really watched them. They lost a few times at home but also beat Porto 4-1 and Atleti 4-0. So there not a bad side at all. Just won the Porkchop Cup and sit a few points behind 1st.

I follow Ben closely as they are one of my favourite ' other ' teams in Europe. You are right, their results haven't been that bad in some games. But generally, their level of play has been poor which is why they have been booed off a few times. The first half Vs Braga being the lowest point.

The fans don't believe in the team at all and they are right to, because it's full of average players. The only potential star they had was Antonio Silva and he has declined the past year and is barely first choice at times.

Benfica normally always has at least 2 players who big European clubs will take a look at in the summer, but nobody will be looking at ANY of the players that played against us on Tuesday night. Maybe Carreras at a push but that's it.

Man for man, it's the worst Benfica side for a long while. I honestly expected us to win comfortably. The fact they scored 4 goals is laughable.
