I can't believe why so many users are giving this thread so much attention. HBA, who is overall a good guy I feel, has had a tendency to blow everything out of proportion especially if it has a relation to his favorite club Newcastle United (HBA, Cabaye etc.).

Nobody with respect for himself should take such claims dead serious.

HBA is a talented player but nothing more than that. His main issue has been his personality and injuries. He is not doing himself any favors by the former. Anyway he is far from being a main man for France - in fact he is not even the second option from the bench. That MIGHT change in the future. Until that moment it's pathetic to talk about him possible being the best player of the tournament etc. with all due respect.

Yes, Blanc made some big mistakes today and against Sweden as well but I am not so sure that HBA would have improved anything. At least he did not do anything of note against Sweden.

Also I think I need to clarify this since 1-2 users have been making the same statement again and again when Blanc has been discussed.

I see that Yugo is banned, but his claim of Blanc supposedly being a racist is simply a stupidity and not true. Apart from that there are NO Arab players on the French national team and there have never been any on the French national team as far as I am aware of. All current and former French players of North African ancestry have been Berbers and so was Zidane who is probably the most well-known French player of Berber and North African origin. That's logical since the vast majority of Moroccans, Algerians and Tunisians are Berbers and those who emigrated to France 80-100 years ago and later were by far mostly Berbers.

What Blanc was against was the fact that young foreign players born in the former French colonies were often being preferred over the French born players (no matter origin) at the French football academies, due to them often being stronger physically at a young age.

That became a problem when those same players later often defected to their countries of birth after having received their whole football education in France either because they did not want to play for France after they turned 18 years or because they were not deemed good enough.

It had nothing to do with race but the principle of young foreign players born in the former French colonies being preferred over the local French born players (no matter origin) because of the former often being stronger physically at a young age which favored them at the French football academies.

He wanted to change that procedure in order to favor the local born players, which is completely understandable since that's the case with every other single national team in the world and the point of having a national football team. That would also help the French football academies to focus on the techincal part of the game rather than the physical part of the game as had been the case for years - since size for a long time was preferred over substance and technicality.

It had nothing to do with race, the media was just quick to make it sound like it was the case. And if Blanc really was a racist then you would not see any French players of Black and Berber origin. Not to mention the fact that he would have been sacked immediately by the FFF and those same players would demand him to quit as well. But that was never the case despite the media trying to do their part.

Ben arfa started a game and did nothing... It's not like he was given zero chances.

a game in which the rest of his teammates were awful and quite a few of whom played worse than him and were not substituted but Ben Arfa was.

In addition it was clear from that game that Nasri and Ribery were not interested in passing the ball to Ben Arfa and were more interested in being individuals playing for themselves with a me me me mentality. Especially Nasri. Quite frankly I think they were threatened by him if he did well as he would take their place in the starting line up, therefore they chose to pass to someone else on many occasions ignoring good runs Ben Arfa was making.

Sure thing.... It was the other players' fault he played badly, not his own...
You can be as blind as you want and find excuses for him, it won't change the fact he played a bad game and blew his chance.

the whole team playing like :shit: will certainly have an adverse effect on your performance. I don't know how you can deny that. and watching the game it was clear certain players were opting not to pass to him when he was making good runs and opted to be selfish and do a Robben.

He did not play well against Sweden but he did better than others who for some strange reason were not substituted yet Ben Arfa was. Nasri I'm looking at you.

Benzema and Ribery, what on earth have they done at this tournament. they had their chances, 4 full matches for 90 mins (A proper run in the team). A proper run in the team is what I call a chance. not 60 mins in a team that put in no real effort at all thinking their mere presence on the pitch would mean that they would beat an already eliminated Sweden.
