Hatem Ben Arfa

Thanks. Looks like good ol' Ben Arfa is incoming. 29 year old, former Newcastle flop. Years of inconsistency and crappy attitude but is finally having great season but plays in the hole behind 2 strikers, so god knows what we are thinking with this transfer. Even if he is a bosman, he is a high risk transfer given the contract he'll likely to get. I think its a testament to our lack of money. We are scraping the barrel.

It's hard to find players willing to sit on the bench but who can genuinely contribute. Indeed, the main investment will be CB. But, c'mon, our front three is absolute luxury. We can't be too upset if we sign Ben Arfa. He has had a good season. We're not signing Adebayor.

Gameiro is strongly linked too

According to transfermarket he either played AM or CF ,scored plenty of goals too
If this is true then the deal (if rumors are true) might not as "wtf" type of bad deal as I initially thought
It is clear we want a veteran striker who can play at the middle who is fast ,seem age isn't really a priority with Mujica(gr8 last summer signing) emerging & Munir having lot of faithful in the club and probably at least one of Kuki Zalazar &Jeremy Guillemenot is probably signed this summer.so may be even being old is actually a bit of advantage so he won't block the way of the young players
Gamiero is obviously a superior player and I would prefer him but Sevilla want 20M + Halilovic so that is essentially 30M deal .way too much with the team having an even bigger needs in defense and may be even in the midfield.
Would hold my judgement until seeing it actually happen and see what we are gonna do in the rest of the summer with the budget ,may be we are saving the money for a bigger need .may be they are wrong

We can always find excuses for our dealings in the market but we are clearly scraping the barrel because of our financial struggles. In that way, it might be good that we are not spending any transfer funds on the striker. He is playing behind 2 strikers. Nice's whole system is revolving around him. I've watched him 5 times this season. Will we play him in Suarez' position? So new club, new system, new position, foreign country, severe adaptability problems in the past, fat contract....Will the old dog learn all these new tricks for us? Time to find out.

He is not a striker. He plays behind two strikers or behind one of the strikers. He never plays as a single forward up front.

Ok, who would you sign Jombi? Remember he must sit on the bench with no chance of being a first team regular, cost around 20 mill and be able to contribute meaningfully occasionally.

I remember a day when good players were signed by Barca. Now we've got Turan, Douglas, Vermaelen, and Barfa.

We had a transfer ban and Arda had plenty of suitors and was wanted by the coach! Jeez

And why are we in this situation now? Because of garbage transfers like Arda and Vidal for 60m euros. They havent contributed at all this season, which was supposed to be the main reason they were bought according to the people who supported these transfers.

I would look at someone who could play numerous positions to increase their playing time, possibly also play in midfield. Also players with a year left on their contract. I think it is good to look at bosman players and if we sign Ben Arfa on a cheap 1 or 2 year contract thats fine, but we all know thats not how we roll. He'll probably get a 5 or 6 year contract like Vermaelen. And thats a huge risk on so many levels considering the factors I mentioned earlier.

Rivere (president Nice): "Ben Arfa linked to Barça? It's true Barça are among the clubs who contacted Hatem. It's not yet a done deal." [f3]

Rivere (president Nice): "I'd be happy for Hatem. You don't reject Barça. If I'd be him, I wouldn't ask questions, I'd just go there!" [f3]

2017 Treble is already set in stone.

Great news! Now I just want this transfer to go through in order to see you guys whine and throw Cronaldo-like tantrums.
