Hatem Ben Arfa

Danger Ahead
I guess it's better him for free than Gameiro for 20M, since both of them would be sitting on the bench anyway. Dat headline on football news site though - "Barca to move for Newcastle's flop":worthy:

if he don't have any behaviour problems and is willing to bench, i see no problems with him coming. big upgrade over munir, sandro and Turan. plus he's coming for free.

It wont be free. Fat signing on fee, and who knows how many years his contract will be. We are looking at a possible 30m euro investment here. And yes, he does have behavior problems, problems adapting and he plays in a position we dont use.

But we are scraping the barrel at this point. We are skint because of bad decisions and we are paying for it now.

We don't know yet if he is truly signing here to even know what is his wage will be like .
And it isn't like whoever we were gonna sign won't cost same wage

We always pay super high wages though (and lengthy contracts! look at the 5 years we gave Verma!) and bosman players in particular get good wages as clubs dont pay a transfer fee.

If we sign him on a 2 year deal, its fine. I dont expect us to give him a 1 year deal with options of more years if certain conditions are met. If we go full retard with 5 year deals like we normally do like with Vermaelen, its just bad.

Barca don't pay super high wages.

Lots of players and agents have mentioned that they could have made more money elsewhere but desire to come to Barca meant they accepted less money.

Would bet virtually every single first team member could make more money elsewhere. Certainly the high paid ones.

Yeah, players and agents will say that.

Yeah, players and agents will say that.

They do because it is true.

Can see the wages of Barca players and virtually all could earn more elsewhere.

What players at Barca are on contracts that are too big? Any that are they are dwarfed by the contracts of the top players who could all make more at other clubs.

If anything Barca play on fact that players want to join and get them for lower wages.

This potential transfer is a win-win on so many levels. Aside from the obvious sporting side, with a bit of luck it could also bring HBA back to forum. I bet the lure of finally being able to decide who's better between Ben Arfa and Messi would be too great to ignore for him.

When he will get a 4 years contrat, he can become like the lazy teenager he was.

He did a great season in Nice because he knows that it's his last chance to have a professional career after 1 complete year of Chicha/Kebab/Urban 5 football.

You are right and wrong at the same time. We actually pay a lot of wages, just last year we lost all our CL money on player's wages and add-on's in their contracts. Now, every player in our starting 11 will earn more at different clubs but you see they will be the superstar at that club, like Suarez will be THE MAN at Arsenal, for example, so they can pay him enormous wages compared to his subpar teammates. Barca is made of 11 superstars we cannot pay everyone the wage the competitor can offer so we offer a little bit less that is still a big sum. The average Barca player's wage is actually very high compared to other teams.

Adriano earns more than Isco and Varane in Real Madrid. Modric earns 4.5m while Vermaelen earns 3.5m.

A typical Barca transfer.

Really?
Could you give me a list (if it's too long to write here, just compile an Excel file and attach it) of all those great (if risky) players we've signed on a free transfer that makes this such a typical transfer for us?

Thanks in advance.
