He was born and raised in Holland, doesnt make sense for him to speak Spanish while growing up. Although there have been plenty of PSV-players that have Spanish or Portugese as their native language. I know Afellay was great friends with Farfan, when he played for us. So you'd think he might have picked up a word or two. Afellay really needs to smarten up. He trains once, maybe twice, a day and besides his training he has to be available for a match twice a week. There is plenty of time to learn Spanish and Catalan. In fact, Barca should really be strict on this matter. You will never be fully accepted unless you speak the language. Its crucial. So Im a bit dissapointed that after all these months he still doesnt speak Spanish...and whats worse, he doesnt even hide it. At least take the effort to memorize a sentence or two. Just for the fans.

He's so much more effective on the right, he's awful on the left, just cuts back every time. Down the right he can stretch his legs and give himself time to get his head up.

You know why he cuts back every time? When he gets the ball, most of the time there arent a lot of players in the box. Sometimes even no players at all. Sure he can run by one, or maybe two players...and then what? At Barca there is only one player that can do it all by himself. Same goes for Villa when he is playing as a winger. Compared to him Afellay isnt that bad at all.

Can't he just study 2 or 3 sentences? Say something like: "I have been welcomed with open arms by this amazing group, we are like a family. I am working hard on my Spanish. Don't worry, we will bring you the Champions League title."

Is that so hard? lol

I thought the same thing, why didn't he prepare something short  Anyway I was a bit disappointed that his Dutch accent wasn't as funny as I expected it to be.

I have repeatedly stated that he is in all probability not good enough for Barca...

We may have to sell him in the summer...

Tend to agree. He's capable of being very good in another team though, a Premiership team would be ideal for him.

Well, listening to the fans on how they were cherring when he was talking, you can say that it was pretty ok.

He's atleast taking his chances pretty much every time unlike somebody....

He is good enough he just needs more time to gel with the others.

Are you kidding me, this guy is absolute Barca material, it's impossible to gel in this team within half a season. I'd wish some people here stop crying and wining about him playing 1 wrong match, and selling him immediately.
