I also think that Affelay has been shit, don't now why all of you are against dalitis. Potential ? He is older than Messi ffs, he had potential 5 years ago and now he is just 25 year old stucked on bench of both Barca and Netherlands. He needs to shake of his fear of playing for big club otherwise he will fail. Honestly, I doubt he will turn good, this kind mentality is just something you have it or not.

He's a starter at the Netherlands, his injury prevented him to play against San Marino and Finland. And you can't compare him to Messi, Messi is a wonderkid and was, and still is, the best player in the world at a very young age. I'll agree on him not being Barca material, but i definetly will NOT agree that some non-intelligent beings here are calling this guy a shit player.

But calling a Dutch International shit? You must be out of your mind.

Its hard to judge Affellay because he really hasnt had the minutes-the playing time. Its pretty hard for most players to just come on and make a dramatic impact. Yes, some players have a natural confidence and can do it but others need to develop the confidence by getting regular match minutes. Affellay has potential-no doubt imo. Its a question of realising that potential. Also I dont think he is a natural winger so he is playing out of position. IMO he should be a starter in Copa. I dont know why Pep gives a fuck about that competition. If we lost in Copa no Barca fan would lose sleep. Let Mourinho and Real Madre win that ;)

With Sanchez out hopefully Ibi gets time. I think the time for Ibi is running out though. I think if he doesnt make an impact this season he will be on his way to another club. I can see Barca selling him for 10-12 million.

Yea....sometimes people are way too harsh on him. he gets so little playing time that its almost impossible for him to have the chance to convince people. i mean you cant sit on the bench all month long and then come on and do something spectacular in 15 minutes after having not played a competitive match for so long. having said that i don't think he has been disappointing whenever he has been subbbed on, if he gets more time he'll get better for sure./

Afellay and Thiago were both our sharpest and most impressive players in the pre-season. He looked WAY BETTER than Villa and Pedro, they were both playing like shit in pre-season and they are still out of form now. It amuses me that you take it out on Afellay when he hasn't even been able to play. Get a clue please.

But where is Jeffren now? I don't know what assignments or tasks Pep gives Afellay, but he does play it safe a lot. Keeping possession of the bal seems holy in his game. Which is a shame, because thats not how I remember Afellay. He used to put a lot of risk in his game and was encouraged to do so by the staff. Continuously looking up his opponents and pass them as if they were standing still. Could be that Pep wants him to play it safe, he is a teamplayer and doesnt have a big ego to disregard Pep's message and play for himself. Perhaps thats why Barcelona wanted to keep Afellay in the squad. And yes its a shame he didnt score yesterday, but he is not a striker. I mean he just came back from a 2 months injury, first 10 minutes, misses 1 chance...he isnt (the real) Ronaldo. Barcelona didnt sign Afellay for his goals.
Khoya Mocro,

Playing keep ball is PSV style playing when winning. I think you're right about Pep telling him what how he should play though. He's keeping the play wide and plays keep ball when winning.

I don't think its that bad.

Watch the last match.. when he wanted to make an action on the wings he looked up to see if the attacking line was going with him. While running he sees no one moving, goes back and passes the ball to Abidal or whomever.
What other option? Go inside?

Judging him on the last match i say there were only 2 things really wrong.. finishing and position play... I remember messi coming back from an attack and Afellay stood still.. Messi had to play it back while it was only 2 vs 3.

Lets see what happens on Saturday.

I agree, the way Villa and Pedro are playing this season, that seems the most likely.

Pedro didn't score in the the first 9 (!) La Liga games last season. Mourinho was making fun of Villa not scoring as well before El Clasico in November, if you remember. We still convincingly won La Liga + Champions League. So why don't you all just chill? Pep is not going to panic now and think about how to replace Villa / Pedro because they are not showing match sharpness after 2 league games yet ...

Ibi is starting tomorrow as SPORT said .. with Valencia & Athletico games coming up .. Pep will rest Pedro in Osasuna game to see Villa - Messi - Afellay

it's gonna be good for him .. I think he never played with the full regular team in the line-up .. so he may do better than before if he starts along side messi - villa -xavi- cesc and the others
