Ilaix Moriba

He's well within his rights to demand more and I am sure he would get it elsewhere. I have absolutely no problem with this. Doesn't mean we should bend over for him though.

Personally I think it's weird getting the pitchforks out for a player demanding more money (or calling him greedy). There's no loyalty from the fans anyway.

Depends what the demands are. €1m a season for a player who is 5th choice midfield at barca and hasn't cost a transfer fee is peanuts. Forget his age it's where the coach sees him in the pecking order. If 3 mids are playing he's generally 1st or 2nd one to be subbed on. Sometimes even starting last year. Depends what the demands are though as I said. If it's 2m or 3m then it's getting a bit silly.

The idea is that we can't give him a pay raise.
When we are basically trying everything with veterans to lower their salaries, and then they find you are giving an 18 years old kid a pay raise then it puts you in terrible position with everyone.
We are telling him to accept his already pre-agreed salary next year (which is 1M) and then he is getting a raise from 2022/2023.
That seems reasonable IMO

Yeah that seems reasonable. Wasn't sure of the details. Although asking a veteran who's on far too much to lower their salary in exchange for more years on their contract is also a pretty good deal. 1m is more than enough for Ilaix.

He obviously has some qualities, but I still don't think he will be one to build around for Barcelona. Can be a complementary player, or preferrably one who brings a lot of money from a transfer pretty soon.

I got this view strengthened the more I watched him play, and I wasn't even aware of the contract situation.
Should've stroke a quick deal with another club this spring when he played and the iron was hot.

Ferran Martinez says Illaix's entourage wants to restart negotiations and he wants to stay.

That was pretty quick.

Our own La Masia player?! I'm disappointed.

Blame Bartomeu for the financial mess and Ilaix’ agents for trying to extort the club never mind flirt with the capital club

We need to make sales and I’d prefer keeping Frenkie, Pedri, Ansu, Araujo and Puig

Ilaix wants to stay. Let's sort out his renewal and see what kind of level he shows over the next 1-2 seasons. At 20 years old we will be in a much better position to assess how far his potential can go- and whether it matches to Barcelona and our next coach.

Ilaix Moriba’s representatives have requested another meeting with the club at the end of this week to discuss a renewal. Martinezferran
