Ilaix Moriba

Perhaps. But he is an 18 year old midfielder who broke into the Barcelona midfield. Transfermarkt valuation of 25m. And has the coveted potential.

The highlights of his A team minutes is enough for a EPL team to be willing to pay atleast 10m imo.

I will not be supporting the player irrespective of how it turns out. Should be sold, good riddance

With one here on his contract, I can't seeing us getting that much for him, his performances were truly stand out when he played.

We're a victim of our own design.

First we paid him a huge amount on a short term contract to keep him.

Then we gave him first team opportunities and it seems to have gone to his agents head.

But someone did make a good point a few pages back. We need to know the context of the renewal and what the terms and wages are before making judgement.

Ilaix is now a first team player. We have to judge his wages as that. It is possible and probably that even with a renewal that he will be among the lowest earners in the first team.

There are more important wages to chip away at like Pjanic, Umtiti, Pique, Sergi Roberto, etc.

The long game is to renew Ilaix. If you sense he is going to be a long term problem with renewals then increase the leverage with a contract length (even if we are not getting the ideal wage) and then use this to sell him, next season.

You can't be expecting 15M for Braithwaite and nothing for Moriba

Totally different. This kid is free to sign with anyone in 6 months right? Let's just say that I think we're more likely to be getting 15m for Braithey than for Moriba, who probably wants to go free so he can get rich.

Guy is made for Raiola.

Shouldn't have promoted him in the first place without a 4-5 year contract being signed and secured first. Lesson for the future, not that we needed it.

He’s only 18 and there’s already been a few instances where renewals have been difficult. Big warning sign it will only get more difficult the older and more exposed he gets to Europeans clubs.

I will say that although I do rate him highly, he’s not exactly set the place ablaze at senior level to the point where any club would snap your hand off right now to get him. Had some good moments, bad moments and plenty in between.

We can trigger a two-year extension I believe, but I bet the dumbasses who negotiated that contract negotiated said extension with a significant salary increase which we want to avoid.

But I'd do that anyway and sell him.

Maybe a team like Leicester take a bet on him for 25-30m. Do that and just sign Ryan Gravenberch as a replacement who has a higher ceiling anyway.

I have faith in Laporta that he will not let the club be fooled by some 18-year-old airhead who thinks he's a star after 2 decent games. As someone said, that he causes this fuss before he's even somebody, in the future he'll be a pain in the ass. He's not exactly worth it so just extend him unilaterally and look to offload him for some cash.

Weigh in our options and take the best one. Giving in and bending over to his demands is the worst one.

Yeah.

As I've said before I like Ilaix a lot, but don't think he's an elite tier talent like Pogba was.

I found this.

Ilaix Moriba's new agency is the German agency ROGON. They represent Max Meyer - maybe you’ve heard the famous story: Meyer didn't extend his contract at Schalke cos ROGON asked a ridiculous salary for "world-class player" Meyer, who then ended up going to Crystal Palace for free.

At mid-table club Crystal Palace Meyer struggled to make the squad, never became a starter in 2 seasons. He terminated his contract by mutual consent in winter and went to 1. FC K?ln - a relegation threatened club. Not even there the "world-class player" could make the squad.

1. FC K?ln stayed in the Bundesliga - Meyer didn’t play for them in the most important games. At all. The half-season trial ended, K?ln didn’t sign him.
Now the "world-class player" Max Meyer is without a club, his market value plummeted.
Thanks to his greedy agent & agency ROGON.

I just hope ROGON do a better and more sensible job at representing Ilaix Moriba then they did with Max Meyer.
And I hope Ilaix is smarter to make the right call and to not blindly trust his new agent/agency.
What happenend with Meyer should serve as a cautionary tale for Ilaix.
