If rumours of 6m net are true then this is just too much for a soon to be 33 year old for two years and option of a third.

No wonder he wants to sign for Barca if that is true.

The risk of injury, decline in legs etc are massive at that age and it is a risk that Barca could be using money elsewhere for on those wages.

Huge signing, still a fantastic player.
The only past 30yr signing that I like
As he shows when he currently starts at City, he has quality on his legs, and given that he will not play week in week out, he can indeed be what we miss at md when Pedri is injured

He is a great player. Feels like if he comes here though he will regress like every previously rated player does and people will say he was never good in the first place.

In general we still pay way too much wages.
Yeah... Likes of Ferran and Fati are on world class level wages whilst contributing almost nothing.

We said we left those type of contracts behind with Laporta but clearly we haven't. Still giving out big long contracts to meh players.

If you are inclined to Capology, they have Gundagon on 4.5m/year euros NET.

Quite why we would improve on that by 33% I don't know.

If they are paying him that it is what they think he is worth and what on previosly wont be much of a concern.

Gundogan extended in 2019 and has probably been in his best form since then with more license to get forward.

You said above it is too much.

Maybe they think it is what he is worth, but we're notorious to overpay. Probably too kanchong to get it over the line, then complain about struggling to renew Gavi and Balde afterwards.

None of that is relevant to point made.

His previous salary wont be of much relevance to Barca either way.

It's like this club hasn't learned from Lewa, Alonso, Vidal, Pjanic etc...

These players play for good managers for clubs that have a clear system that make them look great even if they are in their 30s. They come here and their form drops off a cliff because there isn't a clear system here and Barca hasn't had a great manager in years.

Gundogan will look no different. As great as he is at City, he will look his age and wont be anywhere near as good here.

If that 12m is true then it would be 20m odd of salaries for him and Busquest, fuck knows how much for Messi they are trying to pay and then another huge salary of 16m or so reported for Lewa. Can then add Alonso, Roberto and seemingly signed Ignaco Martinez to that.
The amount of young or prime players could buy with that type of money is unreal.
All these players will need replaced shortly and Barca will have little money to do it.
